BREAKFAST at MGM--What do you recommend?

We will be spending a full day at MGM on a day when the park is open early for EMH. We will eat a "get up and go" breakfast in the hotel room before heading to MGM so that we can take advantage of the EMH. I would like to stop for a break and breakfast type snack around 10:30 or 11:00. Any favorites? I'm guessing that Starring Rolls Bakery would be a good place to go. Any other ideas and suggestions would be appreciated. Which pastries would you recommend?

Starring Rolls would be a good choice for a snack if you are eating earlier. The ABC Commissary was serving breakfast in October and it was pretty good. I believe it ended at 11:00 am. Worked well for us since just grabbing a breakfast item at Starring Rolls was never enough for my husband LOL and we spend a lot of time at MGM Studios! :)

Have a great time!

I've heard some bad reviews about Starring Rolls lately, but we also stopped in the ABC Commissary at breakfast and it was good. It wasn't crowded at all.

We ate at Starring Rolls in Jan & it was pretty bad. We've eaten there on every other trip & never had a problem, though. Everything seemed old - nothing was fresh - cupcake was still frozen in the middle & cookies as hard as hockey pucks. Not sure we're in a hurry to go back - definitely doesn't compare to the Main Street Bake Shop at the MK.

On our MGM days we usually skip breakfast 1st thing - we like to have empty stomachs for RNRC & TOT. Then we opt for catching the boat to the Beach Club & we enjoy a great breakfast at Cape May. This usually doesn't cut into our touring time too much since it seems like most of MGM's shows start later in the day. HTH! :)

Since they stopped character breakfast at H&V, I don't think there is anywhere to go. ABC comissary was awful. In fact, there aren't many great places to eat at MGM whatever time of day u r eating.

If we don't have breakfast at Spoodles on the Boardwalk before heading to Studios, we usually just grab some counter service at the ABC Commissary.

There are no sit down, full service breakfasts at Disney-MGM. We have had breakfast at ABC Commissary, which was OK. Beware of Starring Rolls if you want to grab a bagel. They no longer have the capacity to heat one up for you... a MAJOR gripe of my bagel loving husband. They have redone Starring Rolls and now it is more of a retail place than a true bakery. Such a disappointment! :sad2:

Thanks everyone for the input. I just called and cancelled a late lunch reservation at MGM and made it for 1:00. That way I won't have to worry about getting a breakfast in at MGM. The kids will be fine since we are eating a quick breakfast in our room before we head out. Originally, I had made PS for a late lunch at 3:30 and I knew we would need something to tide us over. They really should have at least one nice place to eat breakfast at MGM.

We used to love Ellen's Bookstore- they had great muffins- perfect for a quick bite. We have recently eaten at the ABC place but not thrilled with it. Last time we just grabbed some fruit from the stand by the Tower of Terror.

I agree...I wonder what the logic behind that is? We used to enjoy a decent breakfast buffet at H&V before they took that away.

We had breakfast at ABC Commissary the last time we were there for the first time and we loved it. We are going to do it again the next time too. It was just enough for all of us (DH, myself and DS10).

I find that Ellen's Bookstore (By the Book?) has gone downhill, with standard baked goods and mediocre coffee. The great coffeecart by the park entrance has also slipped - can't find fresh cookies there anymore (or none when I get there) and the latte's are now flavoured or taste of syrup.

I was really pleasantly surprised with the 'new' Starring Rolls in January, and had a great latte and baked item. Chatted with the CM at length, and she told me that they had had a lot of complaints, as it is hard to move people through when it's busy. That may also account for the quality of food during those times?

I really enjoyed it though, and will definitely go back. Before it was a place I could walk past easily, but after that visit worth a return trip.

We have always enjoyed Starring Rolls until this past year. Our breakfast items were really dry and seemed a little old. I didn't finish mine.

Thanks for the ideas. I really do wish they would have a sit down breakfast at MGM too. Seems like it would stay full. :)
