Im sure this has been asked before, but I was wondering how many value units there are at AK and what the breakdown is of their views! Thanks for the help.

  • Dedicated Studios
    • 8 Value
      • 4 Savanna View
      • 4 Standard View (Pool)
  • 2BR lockoffs:
    • 10 Value
      • 4 Savanna View
      • 4 Standard View (Pool)
      • 2 Standard View (Parking Lot)

We stayed in one of the 2-bedroom "parking lot" views during Spring Break last year. It was quite comfortable. Interestingly, there was both a pull out sofa AND a pull out sleeper chair in the living room which was a surprise. I wouldn't hesitate to stay in a value again especially if you were trying to conserve points.:)

Has anyone ever stayed in the value studio? We are booked for January in a dedicated studio value. I know the room will be SMALL...but we are trying to save points.

A value 2-bedroom is essentially a value studio plus a value 1-bedroom I think. We were comfortable with 2 adults and 3 children, however, we didn't need to use the pull-out sofa in the studio. We just used the pull-out in the livingroom for one of the kids. That being said, if you pulled out the sofa in the studio part, there really wouldn't be very much floor space left and the cushions from the sofa would also have to be put somewhere. From your picture, your children look like they are pretty little. Maybe you could put one in the pack-n-play to sleep (there's one in the cupboard) & the other could sleep on the un-opened sofa. You also might think about stacking the two little square coffee tables that are in front of sofa, in the sink area at night. Just a thought. Good luck.

The Value 1BRs are furnished the same as the non-Values so they do have the sleeper chair. It has been reported that there isn't enough room to open up both the sleeper chair and the sleeper sofa at the same time so the room accommodates four people rather than five.

for 4 people it will be crowded. But since your kids are small - it might work for you.

but I would only put 2 adults in these. they are definitely smaller than the standard studios.

I agree its small... we may reconsider but the points are so little that it is tempting and we love love love animal kingdom. On our last trip our 4 year old daughter slept on the sofa (not pulled out) and the baby in the pack and play. On our next trip they will be 5 and 2, but still the same sleeping arrangements....at least I hope.

well oKW is the same points cost and has 2 queen beds.

now it does have wildlife - birds, squirrels, chips, bunnies (lots of bunnies), otters in the lagoon.

but admit it is very little compared to AKV.

So do I understand that all the value two bedrooms at AKV are lockoffs and have a sofa bed and regular bed in the 2nd bedroom?

ALL of the 2BR's at Jambo are lock offs. There aren't any dedicated....there will be some (I think) at Kidani, but not at Jambo.

So that means, since the value villas will ALL be at Jambo house, that you are correct. All 2br value villas are going to be lock offs. And since all the studios (so the 2nd br of the lock off) have a queen bed and sleeper sofa, again, you hit the nail on the head.

yes - that is because the value is only located in Jambo.

the dedicated units will be build at Kidani only.

we are thinking about doing OKW especially now that our last night it appears is not availabe at AKV value studio. We waitlisted but there are so few values that I don't know if it is worth it.

Quick question! :) I know value studios in AKV sleep 4. But can you have 4 plus a child under 3 in the room? We would have 2 adults, 1 child age 9, 1 child age 3 and 1 child age 2...
does that work?

yes..the child under 3 doesn't count in the numbers.

yes but it will be tight.

these studios are probably the smallest DVC has ever done - and since they put the furniture (or most of it) - it it tight...

if you open the sofa bed - then the only place to put the crib is in the entry hall - so definitely be very, very carefully going to the restroom in the middle of the night.

It would be much easier at OKW - 2 queen beds and plenty of room. OKW is only more expensive on the weekends.

Normally, this is true...

I believe they are far more strict about the occupancy in the values. I'm booked in a 2BR value in October. I wanted to just get a 1 BR value-- (2 adults, 1 5 year old, and 2 infants) but I wasn't allowed to. I was told by two different CMs that the infants will count towards room total when it comes to the values due to space constraints.

Max. occupancy in a 1 BR value villa is 4 (same as studio).

Yes it seems this may be the case. I'm renting points from someone for 5 people, 1 of which is an infant. I was trying for a value studio, but when the person I'm renting from went to make the reservation they told him he had to book a standard in order for us to have 5, with the 1 being an infant.
Ahh well..now I have a better chance of getting a better view anyway! ::yes::

all standard studios have a pool view!!!

you are closer to the laundry mat. also closer to the snack bar - go to the elevators - turn right - get outside - it is a little ways on the right.

Awesome! Now I only have about 11mos to wait...:rotfl: I can't wait, I've heard so many awesome things about AKV.
