Hey, Ya'll! Join me for another Mom/Daughter trip!!

We're still in the planning stages so I hope you all can stick around and maybe even help me with some budget-y ideas.
This will be a budget-y trip, being that I am a single parent / full time college student.
Yes, after almost 20 years since graduating, I decided to go back to school! :teacher:

Our dates: June 13-19

Introductions:

For those that haven't "met" us through my other PTR's or TR's, here we are from our Christmas trip!

:cheer2: DD will be celebrating her 17th birthday on this trip!! :cheer2:

Title:
Where did my title come from?

Well, I am all about saving money, especially with coupons. Everyone in my family saves their coupons for me! I am not as crazy as the coupon obsessed people on TV, but I do save a lot of money by doing this.

We may not get to stay onsite at the most deluxe resorts, but we have stayed at a few really nice offsite hotels (with deals of course! ;))
We are always in the parks, usually from open till close, so we don't really need all the perks of onsite. I will be renting a car, because I really don't like dealing with the slow-poke buses!

Throughout my PTR, I will be posting some "deals of the day", and any other money saving ideas that I come across, in helping me save money for this trip!

Please join me for a budget-y, couponing, cheapskate adventure in planning a Disney trip!!!

:yay:

So, here's my first budget-y plans!! :cool1:

Transportation:

We are flying this time!!! With Allegiant!

Allegiant has some good deals, but you have to be flexible with the dates, in order to get the cheapest deals.

So, for round trip for me & DD plus a prepaid bag = $245.14

Tickets:

After skipping around pretty often on the budget board, I came across and got interested in the Disney's Y.E.S. program. This is a youth educational program that gets kids involved in some of the learning aspects that be found throughout Disney. So after I talked it over with DD, she said she wanted to do it!

We found the perfect program for her since she loves dolphins: "Making Waves with a Marine Career" at Epcot. Along with signing up for this program, you can get deeply discounted Disney tickets!!

So, the total for both of us for

Y.E.S. program cost + 5 day park tickets = $328.54

Not bad at all!

I'm still looking into some hotel deals right now, so hopefully I'll have that ready to book soon!

Coming up next: "Deal of the Day"

:wizard:

"Deal of the Day"

Last week, I made a trip to Target and got a few good deals.

I noticed some Disney merchandise a few weeks back, but thought it was a little too pricey, so decided to skip on it. All of the Disney merchandise was $19.99 each. So for the lamp set, the base was $19.99 and the shade was $19.99. To spend $40 on a lamp was just out of the question.

Well, I went back and they had all of the merchandised marked down, so I got a couple things. Each item was marked down to $5.98!!!!

Then, I went for the lotion section and noticed they had shelves of markdowns. For these Jergens lotion sets, they were already marked down to $5.08 for the set, and I had some $3 off coupons (x3). So I got each set of these for $2.08 each!!!!

For the Banana Boat sunblock, I had some $1 off coupons, and they had the travel size for $1.99. So I picked up 2 of these for $1 each!!!

I love finding deals, especially on something I can take and use while on vacation!!!

:yay:

You got some really good deals! Love the Mickey lamp!:goodvibes

Can't wait to read more about your upcoming trip!

Congratulations on your savings. :cool1:

We try our best to penny pinch too.
Saving for 5 years to finally go back to our favorite place - WDW.

We are planning breakfast in our room every morning.
Family of 4 - saving of at least $60 a day - or $600 for our 10 day vacation.

We also got a great teacher rate at the Dolphin.
Walking to EPCOT and boat to DHS is wonderful.

Best of luck to all your saving idea's :goodvibes

I'm here for your next Disney vacation!!! popcorn:: Thanks for letting me tag along... :woohoo:

I've never heard of the Y.E.S. program before... I might have to talk DD into doing it... It looks like a lot of fun...

And I love your Mickey lamp that you got at Target... :thumbsup2

I'm following along! Wow it does look like you got a great deal on those lotions and sunscreens. I used to be into coupons quite a bit but the last couple of years I just haven't been keeping up with them. You have inspired me to get back into it! I can't wait to hear about your trip plans. :goodvibes

I am following along. I like to coupon also and would love to hear about your Disney budget friendly ideas.

Looks like I'm a tad bit "tardy for the party"! Better late than never! lol

Glad you decided to start another TR!

I'm totally jealous of the Mickey lamp...that's awesome. Though I don't blame you for not paying full price at all...$40 was crazy for a lamp...muchless something so small. Thought it is VERY cute!

I tried to do the couponing thing with no success. My problem is that I find myself buying things that I wouldn't normally buy, just because I have a coupon.

Anyway...I'm really looking forward to reading this report as I have been all the others.

Now, I've gotta get over to my PTR and get some updating done...I've been a serious slacker lately!

Thanks for joining! I'm the same way. I get really excited about my savings! I even bought me a pair of new shoes 2 weeks ago, but haven't gotten really excited about them or even taken them out of the box! But yet, I proudly display all my coupon deals on my storage shelf!! :lmao:

Yay, glad you're here! I've read a lot about it on their website and it does seem like a lot of fun, especially since they let the parents join in on the fun! (or "chaperone") On their site, they have a section for individual enrollment you can check out. They have group enrollments, but since it's only me & DD, we don't have enough for a group!

Thanks for joining! I love couponing! Hope you get back into it. Sometimes I'll have lots of good luck for a few weeks, then the sales & coupons slack a little, but I enjoy looking for the deals!

Now, I've got go check out your update!

"Deals of the Day" and "not so budget-y" news!!

Here's my deals of the day:

(Hopefully it's only "women eyes" on my PTR for this deal.... :rotfl: )

Kotex U liners:

$1.24 each - $1.00 coupons (each) = 4 boxes for 0.96!

Allegra:

$6.99 - $7.00 off coupon!!! (I actually profitted on this by one penny!:lmao: )

003-1.jpg

My other "Deal of the Day":

There was a grand opening event of a new Great Clips in our area.
They are running a $2.99 haircut special, so I made a trip up there today!
I don't mind getting a cheap-o haircut every once in a while! :rotfl:
They lady actually did a pretty good job.

And on top of that, I scored a freebie!!!!

Now for my "not so budget-y news". Not sure if you all seen on news or read it online, but Allegiant is going to start charging fees for carry-on bags! :headache:

Here's a portion of the article:

Las Vegas-based Allegiant Air will impose a $35 fee per flight segment on passengers taking carry-on luggage stowed in overhead bins beginning with Wednesday bookings, the airline confirmed Monday.
Under the new policy, passengers will be allowed to take one free carry-on piece, no larger than 7 by 15 by 16 inches, that could fit under the seat in front of them. Larger carry-ons with a maximum weight of 25 pounds, like roll-aboard and garment bags, would be subject to the new fee. Luggage with a weight of 26 or more pounds must be checked, which carries a $35 fee if done at the airport and $15 to $30 if done online.
The new fee doesn’t affect passengers who already have purchased tickets, but on bookings made after Tuesday night.
Allegiant is the second airline to charge a carry-on luggage fee. Florida-based Spirit Airlines also charges passengers carry-on fees at rates similar to Allegiant’s.
In addition to baggage fees, Allegiant charges extra for tickets purchased through its reservation call centers and online, for early boarding and seat selection and for food served on flights.

I did notice where it states that "the fee won't affect passengers who already have purchased their tickets." So I may just have to give them a call soon to double check on that!!

But it's still not bad, though, considering the great deal I got anyway!

I'm almost in the middle of Spring Break and still haven't gotten much "Disney stuff" done. I've got some extra credit work to do in Biology A&P, so I have been working a lot of time on that stuff! Also, I need to get some spring cleaning done so we can have a yard sale soon!
(Extra funds for Disney...hopefully!)

:)

Great deals!!:thumbsup2 I got the Allegra one as well. I love freebies!! It came just in time too, as my DH suffers from allergies.

Good idea on the yard sale! We are hoping to have one as well before our trip.:thumbsup2 Every little bit towards Disney helps!!:)

I saw the news about Allegiant's fees on the news this morning as we were getting ready for work, and I immediately thought about you. I'm glad to know they aren't charging those who are already booked! The news said that you could possibly avoid some of the fees if you book online, but didn't you tell me it was cheaper to actually purchase your tickets from the airport counter?

Mike and I are wanting to do a yard sale, too. We've already gotten a good amount of stuff to sale, now we just need to figure out when we're actually gonna have it!

Great deals! I hope you don't have a problem with the baggage fees. What a pain.
