Break day in the middle of the week?

Hi everyone

We are booked at POR for spring vacation (4/19-4/26). So excited We usually do 9 days and I schedule 1 day where we don't have a park ticket and just take it easy. So my question is does anyone take a break day when only going for 8 days (we don't do parks on arrival or departure days) so it's really only 6 days. Just not sure if I should purchase 5 or 6 day tickets? Any advice?

We always make it a point to have an "off" day where we lounge at the resort. Later in the day we may venture out to do something. It not only helps the kids recharge but it also helps the adults get some much needed rest and sanity LOL.

Throughout the week we may also take a break during the day and go to the resort and splash in the pool etc. You would be amazed what a 2 hour break from the park does for you.

We always take an all-day break from the parks midway through our visit and we also stay for 8 days (two are travel days). We sleep in and enjoy the pool for most of the day and then head out to DTD for dinner and maybe some shopping. Then the next day we're eager to hit the parks again. It's nice to spend a day away from all the fun park craziness and recharge. I purchase 6 day tickets though just in case we feel like going to a park after dinner on that day off.

Purchase 5 day and swim and do downtown disney on that day off.

We used to. We would do 6-7 park days and have an off-day in the middle. We're rope droppers and stay in the parks as long as the kids could handle it. So the off day was for DTD and the hotel pool. (We usually swim other days as well, but as it fits. It's nice having one day where it's a main activity). Doing a day at DTD helped keep the kids out of the stores more in the parks. That way, we were using more times for rides/attractions. That doesn't mean we never went into a store, just that it wasn't a priority at all in the parks.

It depends on your child and how you do the parks as well. One trip, we had to move our break day up one day. The weather had been more hot than we expected and the 2.5 year old who needed naps decided he wasn't going to nap. Our last trip wasn't Disney, but was Orlando theme parks, and the kids did well without an off-day with 7 days of parks. But, we left earlier a couple of days and weren't nearly as commando-style as we usually are.

We don't. We usually go for 8 days. We do rope drop, long afternoon breaks, then back in the parks until closing (or at least through the night time shows). My kids are 8 & 2. We usually do a water park at least once during the trip...but we usually end up in one of the parks for at least a few hours every day. We are not commando by any means, so we don't really need a break day.

We don't do a break day, because it is really pretty cheap to add another park day once you are at the 5 day mark, I think it is $10/day per person...you can't beat that for value to have more park time and not feel like you have to rush or worry you missed something.

We did 6 park days (same situation, no parks on travel days, went from 1/31-2/7) and I wouldn't have wanted to take a break DAY. With that resort we would have had plenty to do staying at the resort (we *LOVED* Port Orleans Riverside) but I felt like we needed 2 days at MK, 2 days at Epcot, 1 at HS and 1 at AK or we would've missed out. I did purposely schedule our AK day for mid-week because I knew that would be a shorter park day and one of our Epcot days we did go back to swim (I was outvoted, I wanted to stay in the park)

We are traveling with a 2.5yo, so I planned a break day with 2 park days on either side of it. We are doing parks on travel days (HS and AK) as we live only 3h away.

I do at least one if not 2 non park days depending on how long we go for.

Last year we went for 10 days and we only did the parks for 5 plus a water park day/ til about 1-2.

We're going for five this November, and we always take a break day in the middle. Usually end up at Downtown Disney at some point.
