Happened by one of the endcaps and found a Breadman machine original price $99.99, marked down to$24.99! I snapped it up! All electronic with every bell and whistle!

I had been following the thread on here a while ago about making your own bread without HFC and other additives and had been wanting one since!

So, while I had been getting Nature Own whole wheat bread at the dollar store, I am thinking this is going to be way better!

Please, would love some healthy reciepes for bread, pizza dough ect. Also, where do you get your supplies that make it most cost effective?

Honey Wheat Bread - 1 1/2# loaf

1 1/4 cups water
3 TBSP Honey
1 1/2 tsp salt
1 1/2 TBSP Butter
2 1/4 C Whole Wheat Flour (I use white whole wheat from King Arthur)
3/4 C Bread flour
1 tsp yeast

Put all ingredients in bread pan in order. Do not allow the yeast to touch the water.

This is a recipe from razzledazzlerecipes that I have ammended. They state to use 1 1/2 cups each of bread and wheat flour. I use 3/4 of the flour as wheat and 1/4 of the flour as bread flour and it seems to work well but I figure the wheat is more healthy. This is still enough bread flour to make it raise well in the breadmaker.

This might be a little silly but, do you melt the butter to put in the machine? And, is the breadmaker yeast that comes in a bottle any different than the one that comes in the envelopes? I usually proof the envelope yeast with the warm water and the sweetener, but the bottle one says to put it in with the flour.
Thanks!

I don't melt the butter first. I do cut it up in little pieces to make it easier to incorporate. Also, if you are making bread on a regular basis, buy the yeast in bulk at Sam's Club or Costco. I get a 2 lb. pack, but a little in a jar in the refrigerator, then freeze the rest and take it out as I need it. It keeps up to a year this way, so I only buy the yeast once a year. 2 lbs. runs me less than $5 at Sam's Club, far less than buying those little packets. By the way, one envelope equals 1 1/2 - 2 tsp of bulk yeast (start with 1 1/2, up it to 2 next time if the loaf seems a bit small). Oh, and I add the yeast in with the flour. You can proof it every once in awhile if you want to, but by freezing the yeast, I've never had it lose its effectiveness over time, which is why you want to proof it in the first place.

I just cut my butter up also and use it right out of the refrigerator. I also purchase the large container (block) of yeast and keep it in the refrigerator. We don't have a Costco so I purchased mine from King Arthur.

Herbed Whole Wheat Pizza Dough

1 ½ pound of dough (fits 15in round pizza pan)

1 cup water
2 Tbsp olive oil or cooking oil
2 cups bread flour
1 cup whole wheat flour
2 tsp dried basil, or oregano, or Italian seasoning, crushed
¾ tsp salt
¼ garlic powder
1 tsp active dry yeast, or bread machine yeast

Add ingredients to bread machine. Select dough cycle. When cycle is complete punch down and let rest for 10 minutes. Bake for 10 minutes @ 350-375º (lower temp makes softer crust), add toppings, bake for 10-15 mins more.

Breadman was still $99 in my store but I saw the new model and am thinking maybe it'll get marked down soon. So I will be keeping my eyes open for it. You got a great deal!!

I got that machine at my Target last week for that price too. There was only one. It will replace my old one that the blade was permanently stuck in. What I do to make my bread machine baking quicker is make up a bunch of mixes a head of time and all I have to add is the wet ingredients. A good site for recipes is breadworld.com. It is from Fleischmann's yeast.

Just got home from Target. There was only one and I scanned it to be sure but it was still $99.99. :( I will have to keep checking back since there was only one. I may check out another Target if I am out. Good Find!!!

Found a reciepe for the Macaroni Grill bread. I did use half whole wheat and half white bread flour. It's in the breadmaker right now!

Ingredients
• 1 cup water
• 3 Tablespoons olive oil
• 2 1/2 cups flour
• 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 1 1/2 Tablespoons sugar
• ¼ teaspoon Italian seasoning
• 1 1/2 Tablespoons rosemary
• 1 Tablespoon yeast
• additional rosemary to garnish

Directions
1. Place ingredients, according to manufacturer's directions into your bread machine.
2. (some call for all liquids, or all dry ingredients first, so know your machine) Set machine to "dough cycle" and wait. (This takes most machines about an hour and a half for a full cycle).
3. Remove from machine when cycle is complete and place on a lightly greased baking sheet.
4. Shape dough by hand, into a rectangular mound, spreading kind of thin, maybe an inch or two of thickness.
5. Cover and let rise in a warm place for about an hour or until doubled in size. (This is a good time to go ahead and turn the oven on to preheat and help warm the kitchen).
6. Brush with a little olive oil, sprinkle with rosemary and salt if desired. (This is the way its done at Macaroni Grill).
7. Bake at 375°F for 20-25 minutes until crust is golden and crispy. Bread is meant to be a flatter shape and not a high rising bread.
8. Have everyone tear their pieces of bread with their hands, and serve with olive oil flavored with fresh ground pepper
