I am planning on taking my gf here for our anniversary. I've never been to one of these places but it sounds amazing.

Anyone here ever eaten at one and how was your experience?

I LOVE them!

We go to ours out here and one in Vegas. Not the same name as yours but they are kinda the same.

Don't go overboard on the side dishes if you are a die hard carnivore. I hate being stuffed when the tri tip finally comes around.

Also, let your sword carrier know what you'd like to try first. We are not much into shrimp so we asked ours to just not bring it. I wanted to try both of their chickens and of course we wanted the tri-tip, sirloin, and mignon cuts several times.

We have a local one (not a chain) that we go frequently. I agree completely with Handbag Lady--go easy on the sides. We prefer the beef and pork skewers--the turkey seems a little dry. It is a ton of food, and lots of fun.

We've tried a couple of them in Vegas and DW loves them. I a bit less of a carnivore than she is, but it is different and enjoyable. :)

Agreed! LOTS of delicious food and a fun experience as well. DH and I went to ours in Minneapolis for our anniversary and LOVED it. So much so that our neighbors just recently went for their anniversary as well. Don't fill up on the salad bar, though--there is just too much good meat to try!

I've been to one. It was pretty expensive for what you get, in my opinion.

I love the food bar way more than the meat and would love to go for the salads alone.

Fogo de Chao is my favorite of all of the churrascarrias. It's kinda pricey...like $50-$60/pp for dinner? So totally worth it though.

If you have a Fogo de Chao near you, you should go there instead of another. The meats are high grade and prepared quite well. I've never had a complaint about that place and I've been to the Fogo in DC 15 times.

Obviously, it's not going to be the same as if you have a porterhouse prepared specifically for you at Peter Luger's, but for steak cooked the way Brazilian places cook it, it's top of the line.

We have Braza's in Hartford. It is excellent. Go hungry! It makes Ohana look like an "appetizer". ;)

Plataforma Churrascaria in NYC is the best one we've been to. Its an entertaining and fun evening! :) Hope you have a great time!

Ohhhhhh yeah, I love Brazilian barbecue. Here's the one I go to in San Diego:

All the tasty barbecue you can eat for around $45.00. Make sure you're famished when you go, nothing annoys me more than having freshly barbecued skirt steak come by and I'm too full to eat it.

We go to a place called Brasa. Everybody in my family loves it. I think it's alright. I feel like I don't get my money's worth. I can only eat so much meat and then I can't stomach another bite. I prefer the salad and sides bar.

Texas de Brazil is my favorite that I have tried so far. soooo much good food

We went to a Brasa in Cleveland -- yummy! Our waiter warned us not to overdo it on the sides bar, but we actually liked the sides, so we didn't really get our money's worth with the meat.

Re getting one's money's worth at a churrascaria:

I've been to regular steakhouses where I've paid $40-$80 just for one steak plus a couple of sides. I can go to the churrascaria a few blocks from my office and pay like $35 at lunch time and get all of the wonderfully succulent steak I can accomodate. Even if I don't completely pork out, I think I get my money's worth when compared to going to Bobby Van's or Shula's or Ruth's Chris, etc., etc.

I admit, I usually go on an expense account so I'm not cost-conscious, but I've gone on my own dime and still felt like it was a good buy.

Fogo de Chao is so worth it. I went to the one in Baltimore for the first time this weekend. Amazing, every bit of it.

I highly reccommend it.

I believe it was $43 and change/pp, plus drinks, deserts, etc.

We go to this one too! My husband usually takes all of his clients there and he's never had one complaint (except for being too full);) . This thread is going to make me want to take a trip soon. We tried another Brazilian BBQ place in Temecula and it really failed in comparison.
