Brazil to be added to WS?

I feel like to the Average American (not me personally), Mexico and Brazil are TOO similar. If Disney was going to add a new country, they would try to add a country that is different to the ones already there. (even though many Americans clump China, Japan together and those countries both have a pavillion.

Mexico and Brazil are as different as Mexico and Canada. In fact, perhaps they're more different. Mexico and Canada are on the same continent.

Differences between Mexico and Brazil include:

• Different language
• Different continent
• Different cuisine
• Different architecture
• Different music
• Different history

So far, I'm unwilling to believe this rumor. If this were really news, I would think that a search using the Brazilian version of Google would find it in Brazilian newspapers. Instead, the Brazilian and U.S. versions of Google only find blog entries, all presumably derived from this mobile phone photo: http://instagr.am/p/DYSOT/

It's called Epcot Center in the photo, a name that has not been officially used for many years.

It could be from before Epcot's Millennium Celebration, when Brazil was in the Millennium Village. It could refer to last year's Food & Wine Festival, when there was a booth for Brazil. It could be completely bogus.

Or it could be real and current, but right now I don't think so.

I hope I'm wrong. Brazil would be a great addition to Epcot. So far, South America is unrepresented in Epcot. A Brazilian grill restaurant could be very popular; Epcot guests like beef (just try to get a table at Le Cellier). Brazil is a huge country with everything from the Amazon rainforest, the craziness of Rio, and the wild architecture of its capital city, Brasília. There are a lot of possibilities for a movie or ride.

I'm not going to get excited yet.

Thanks, Horace. I was thinking the same thing, but my brain was being less eloquent. Mexico and Brazil aren't on the same continent and they don't speak the same language... how are they too similar? I think this is a great idea, I think it's entirely plausible, and I do intend to get excited about it

I HOPE that this is true but seeing that the FLE is in progress and all the other stuff going on in other parks around the world (Cars World @ Cali Adventure and Shanghai DL) I can"t see it happening.

I think that's a perfect reason to make a Brazil pavilion, to change perceptions about other countries, like the rest of the World Showcase does.

I also find it disturbing how many people will confuse China and Japan...yes they're similar in some ways, but very different many, many ways. I cringe when I hear about people going to eat sushi in a chinese restaurant

Both get lumped together as part of "Latin America." And the Roman Catholic religion is the predominant religion in both. However, as noted earlier in this thread, there's not too much that's very similar beyond yet.

From an Epcot World Showcase standpoint, what really matters is how the pavilion is designed. If WDI designs any new World Showcase pavilion as an interior space where it's always nighttime, with a street market and a restaurant with boats going by, then people will find it similar to Epcot's Mexico. But if WDI designs something fresh which showcases the unique aspects of the culture, then there will be no confusion.

Out of curiosity, if the "average American" in your area considers Mexico and Brazil to be too similar, then what possible country could be added to World Showcase that would be seen as "different to the ones already there" anyway? Wouldn't any Asian country be "just like" Japan and/or China and any European country "just like" one or more of the current European countries?

Where i am the average high school Graduates GPA at graduation is a 2.25 not weighted. Many people where I live are not the brightest. I think that you are misunderstanding what i'm saying. You are entitled to your own opinion. I just don't want you to think i'm saying its a bad idea because they are the same. I'm well aware they are very different, but where i live, I'm one of the very few who do.

I agree that even the average American knows there's a difference between Mexico and Brazil.

Getting back to the topic at hand, I'd love to see a new country added to WS and at this point I'd take any country at all.

that's a good point. Any new country could have that same problem. Thats why I believe They should really update and add to the ones already there. Perhaps the Mt. Fuji coaster originally planned?

Of the 11 Countries currently:

2 are from Asia

3 from North America

1 from Africa

5 from Europe

That leaves 2 continents without representation (sorry, omitting Antarctica).
Africa and Asia also have representation at Animal Kingdom.

Brazil would be a great country to add, because of its size and honestly I think it is more widely known and respected (besides the tour groups) than the other South American countries.

If they add Australia, then they'll have every continent covered.
