DH and I will be celebrating 10 year Anniversary in Nov. and we are discussing a possible short trip to Branson. Never been there before and I was wondering about any discounts and good places to stay. Any and all help appreciated. Thanks.:cool1:

Branson is Nov is really fun. Silver Dollar City does Christmas Lights starting just before Thanksgiving and they are just beautiful. There is a good web site http://www.1branson.com/forum/ It is much like this one with a message board to ask questions. There is also the official site for Silver Dollar City http://www.silverdollarcity.com/.

I spend a great deal of time at the lake near Branson and will be happy to answer any questions I can. What kind of hotel would you like? Local owned? Condo? Brand name?

We don't really care where we stay as long as it is clean, and possibly has a continental breakfast.

I was happy to see this thread about Branson. We are thinking about meeting our son, his wife and our brand new grandbaby (1 month) for Thanksgiving there. They are stationed at Ft. Hood and that would be about half way for both of us to meet. We were a little concerned about what the weather might be then. Could there be a chance of snow? We don't want weather to be an issue for either of us since we won't have much time anyway! We live in Ohio so we are not afraid of it, we just don't want it to be a problem. We are excited to see the baby! :yay:

Also, we would like to stay in a condo (or house) instead of a hotel but also inexpensively! Any recommendations? We've been looking at VRBO.com.

Thanks!

I can tell you not to stay at the last place we did. The Ramada Resort and Conference Center on W. Highway 76.

Yes, we can have snow at Thanksgiving, or we could have 70 degrees. Welcome to Missouri.;)

For a condo I would stay at Stonebridge or Thousand Hills.

I am always there for Thanksgiving weekend. It can be 60 and it can be 20. It would be very rare to get snow at all. Sometimes ice later in the winter but not likely over Thanksgiving.

we just got back and we stayed a week at the residence inn by marriot. It was really nice. you will love Branson we did and we where there in aug it was hot but fun.

Thousand Hills is amazing. My wife and I have stayed there several times. When I was in college at Missouri State, my parents would come down and stay in at Thousand Hills so they could shop and hang out without staying in a college town.

One of the selling points for me on that place is location. I like that it is close to everything, but no right on 76, so you don't have to fight all of the traffic. The new back roads system they have put in over the past few years is awesome.

We go to Branson about once a month in the summer. We have a timeshare there and usually stay at Big Cedar. That is a my number 1 recommendation if you have the budget for it! It is so worth is and it is far enough away from the strip to be nice and quiet. But we used all our timeshare points on Disney this year, so we've tried out a couple places. Right now out favorite is the Stone Castle!http://www.bransonsettleinn.com/ They have the best continiental breakfast of all the hotels in that price point we have stayed in. The rooms were really nice for the price too. The bathrooms are really tiny, so that was the only drawback. It has indoor heated pools and a game room for kids.
For condos, it's been quite a while since I stayed there, but the Notch used to have decent condos.

Restaurant.com has a few Branson places which are pretty good. Chateau on the Lake and Bleu Olive are nice places for an Anniversary dinner. Also, if you use the discount code FALL, you can save 80%. :)

If you are looking for a show we just saw 6 a few weeks ago and they were really good. We also like the Haygoods. Dixie Stampede is a fun dinner show.

I can't help with a place to stay (we camp at the lake near Branson when we're down there), but as far as weather goes, it's anyone's guess about temperature. Some years it's freezing cold. Other years, it's warmer, beautiful fall weather still. It would be very unusual for there to be snow, though.

We love Branson. Have a great trip!

For the ultimate luxury and awesome accomodations try one of the cabins at Big Cedar Lodge. It's a tiny bit outside of Branson, but right on the lake. Just a quick ride to Branson and all the fun there. For my anniversary, i'd choose Big Cedar.

We spend every other weekend about 8 miles from there so I can help with other things, too. In fact, we just got back home about an hour ago... Love it down there. The lake is great, Silver Dollar City is fun, they are having their Craftsman Festival now. We also like the Branson Belle Show boat. The Branson Landing is fun in old town. There is plenty to do and don't forget to check restaurant.dot com for certificates, there are some for the Chateau, Shorty Smalls (just ok) and the Bleu Olive,(not tried that yet).:hippie:

I just wanted to say hello from Branson! :wave2: We close on our house in Branson 2 weeks from today! I hate to admit it though, I probably won't have as many suggestions as the other people on here. I've lived in KC the past 4 1/2 years but am originally from Springfield MO (40 min away) so I rarely needed to stay in a hotel there. I did go to the Chateau for a romantic weekend about 6 years ago during late Spring and it was beautiful!!!! I've also heard great things about Big Cedar.

For entertainment, Silver Dollar City ranks up there! It's such a neat place! DD9 has been to the Dixie Stampede a few times with her dad and she loves it. She really doesn't like much of the food there because she's very picky but she still loved the place. If you want some shopping, Tanger Outlet is awesome...and it has a Disney Outlet! Just save a few things for me. ;) There's also Branson Landing which is a really neat. It's an outdoor mall anchored by a very small Bass Pro Shop and a department store that I can't think of the name of right now. The mall is along the river so you could just go for a leisurely stroll and have dinner or something. There is a regular Disney store at the mall. There really is plenty to do in Branson, you guys will have a good time. As far as the weather goes, everyone else already said it...it could go either way but rarely would it snow that early here. I feel like the majority of our bad weather here is January and February.

Have a wonderful time!!

It is Belk's.

For the fall you might want to consider a ride on the train. It has a car with windows and the leaves are so pretty.

I have never been to Branson either. Thanks to All for the information - I look forward to visiting in the future.
