Brand new perk (Sunset, not Sunrise Safari) for adult concierge guests at AK Lodge

So what should I do - go for "Sunrise" or "Sunset"

My DD22 and I decided on the sunset safari over the sunrise for the following reasons:

-we are not early morning people
-the idea of a small group of 8 appealed to us
-we have eaten at Jiko and love the food!
-you don't have to pay park admission since you are on the savannah at the Lodge
-we liked the 16 and over policy - unhappy youngsters can ruin everyones fun

Thanks for the report, ckj.

What great pics! The animals really are as close as I had hoped. I can't wait to go even more now, if that is possible!:bounce:

I'm heading over to the trip report board to read the rest of your posts.

Thank you all for your winderful insights and GRRREAT pictures.

I did it, I swapped out sunrise for sunset. I, too, am NOT a morning person until I've had at least 2 Mt Dews (& since Disney is All-coke, it would be a Loooooong morning.

I booked my niece and I on the sunset safari the day we arrive - the 19th. Angela was great at the Concierge planning and booked us in right away. I can't wait. I'll post my stuff when I return.

Thanks again everyone!:Pinkbounc :teeth:

I didn't fall into a black hole, just almost..... :teeth:

You've made a great decision, but depending on your mood- both the Sunrise and Sunset Safaris are outstanding!!

I will say though.... that when you're doing the Sunset Safari; you'll see views of AKL that you've never seen before!

And the Jiko meal is just too good for words.......

Oh, I'm loving this thread! What wonderful reviews and now some wonderful photos to go along with it. I cannot wait to attend the Sunset Safari on my upcoming WDW vacation. Yahoo!! My thanks to everyone who has shared in this thread.

We got our AKL concierge package four our June stay in the mail today and it listed the new dates for the Sunset Safari as Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. The meeting time says 1.5 hours before sunset, so for our stay I'm guessing this would be around 6:30 or 7pm. We're doing the Sunrise Safari so we're not sure if we'll do this one too or save it for another trip.
