Okay another newbie question. I went looking again today. I bought some braids because I don't have any tools to do eyelets. But I was thinking why would someone buy the eyelets and have to do buy the extra tools. I know they give a little different look. But unless I am missing something all you have to do is poke the braid through. It seems like such less work. Let me clarify I am not trying to put people down who use one or the other. Just wondering? :confused3

eyelets and brads...a whole diffrent look...that's why I use them. Myself I use more eyelets than brads...but they look so diffent...so I'll mix them up. That's like asking why mat a photo in your scrapbook??...you use so much more cardstock that way along with adhesive...but a matted photo and an un-matted photo have such diffrent looks. There are also some times when a brad just wouldn't do the trick...as in when you use vellum. We'll it could work if your going through vellum and something else..but if your juse using vellum and nothing else...a brad just wouldn't work.

Besides brads are fun..and a perfect way to let out some aggression or anger ;) Bam, Bam, Bam.

I like both. :sunny: It just really depends what you are doing and if you want the "hole" there or not. eyelets are great for tags cause you can then put the ribbon or fiber through the eyelet hole. I just used a ton of eyelets making myself a calendar book so that the page holes were kind of re-enforced. I use brads to hold mats down on paper or titles together. (or things that I want a solid look (not the hole look). (and it is fun to bang the heck out of something). A trick with the brads is to stick a big needle through whatever you are putting the brad through so you don't end up having the prongs get all messed up. You can also use the needle to split the prongs so that you can separate them. (sorry if none of this is making sense, haven't had breakfast yet). maggie

BOLTH

I startd with eyelets -
but the BAMG BANG thing was getting old
so I used Brads whenever possible -
but yesturday I got the silent setter and i LOVE it and can see myself using a lot more eyelets

like Maggie said it depends on what you are using them for!

I came into eyelets late. But I think they were out first and all the rage. Then came the brads. I still love my eyelets over brads, main reason My finger nails are so weak I some times have a hard time opening them. Also with eyelets you can run fibers through them. Not sure if they make brads with holes or not.
Then there are snaps. Which are plastic (or at least the ones I have seen) but again I can't get them opened! I do like them. They give a much more subtle look.
I use a push pin to make my hole first for the brad. Also I usually will put either a small piece of paper on the back side of my page to cover the brads tabs.or a photo tab with out removing the blue cover. This way it makes it easier to slip in the page protector if you are using a top loading.

I also am a huge eyelet fan and not so much a brad fan as there isnt as many I like or fit with my themes...

I really like both. I just bought the MM eyelet setter so now I too can BANG away. As a rule of thumb for me, I use brads if I don't want or have any fibers for my page.

I like both , but eyelets come in soo many cute shapes.
