Let me explain...DD did the half head braiding on the boat....we loved it! I've since done a couple of combos of half head braiding myself here at home. Last night we took out a set of sideways braids and now DD wants me to do a whole head braiding...but I didn't see that done! Can anyone post pics of their kids WHOLE head braid...I think I can figure it out if I just get to see a picture or two.

THANKS SO MUCH!
Chris

Kinda on topic? How much does a half head braiding cost and how long does it take?

Do you make an appointment once you get onboard?
Was it a nightmare to take out?

Thanks!

Hi, I am thinking it was 2$ a braid :confused3 ...Depends on hair, my dd6 at the time was 36$...YEs, you must make an appointment as soon as you board..they go quickly...Well worth it IMHO...We put conditioner in before we removd the braids, and it was a hop, skip, and jump..

HTH :goodvibes

Shan,
It should cost around $20-$30. They charge a certain amount per braid and right now I can not remember the charge. I am sure someone will post it later though.

We did make an appointment. Normally on embarkment day they have appointments being made on Deck 9 or 10. You can see a navigator to check on times at castawayclub dot com. I think it is sometime between 2-3pm.

I did not have a problem taking Mac's out. She had it done on every cruise. The first time she had her hair braided diagonally on half of her head. That was my favorite. I do not have a dig pic of this.

It really hurts to ahve there hair braided. Mac normally is in tears at some point or another...but she always loves to have it done.

Thanks. Can you still put their hair into a ponytail?

I think my oldest could handle it (pain), but I doubt my youngest could. Do they also do hair wraps?

Yes you could pull the hair back into a ponytail.

The last cruise we were on they did the hair wraps.

There was another thread on here recently about this. You might want to do a search and review some of those threads. I say this because one person said the CM was very gentle with her daughter. You might want to see which ship that was and get the CM's name so you can see if she is on your cruise and she can do both of your DD's hair.

I love for my daughter to get her hair done. I have always gotten her hair done on an island. I get it so her braids are long and run to the bottom with the beads. I would love to attach a picture but don't know how. Help>>>>

I leave from her ears down unbraided and it makes it easy to pull it all up to a ponytail. I will attach a photo when someone can tell me how.

They really try to be gentle but the part that always hurts is at the temples. We talked to some of the girls having braids done before my DD's appointment and one of 'em even had tears running down her face from the pain while we chatted! Still, all the girls, including the one in tears, assured us that they'd had this done on other cruises and it only hurts for a little while when they braid the temple area and it's "worth it". My DD then said the same when she was done.

Incidentally, doing the "half-head" is all the rage around here (Seattle area) for girls on sports teams. They all have ponytails anyway so this controls the front. My DD wore braids to basketball camp when we got back from the cruise and told me she was really happy she did because she looked like she fit in right away. We're going to have it done before she goes to volleyball camp next week, too. :cool1:

I don't know if this will work, but I gave my daughter a bowl of ice cream from Scoops to eat while she got her hair braided. She's four and usually complains passionately when I comb her hair but with the ice cream distraction, she was fine.

Thanks Jsme, but I'm still searching for anyone w/a pic of how to do the back. The half head is what my DD already had done and is what I can do easily on my own now for her. She originally said this morning she wanted her whole head done, but after finishing one back braid, she decided she was done. I'm hoping to pop in a movie tonight and finish the back (i've decided to just do the normal cornrows halfway back and then I'm just doing small standard braids down the back).

DD goes to sports camp monday so I would love to have her whole head finished for that for her!

Over the month and a half we have been home from the cruise, she has only worn her hair w/out braids for about 3 days total...has been a real help for gymnastics! She is only 5 but is at a competitive level in gym now...and it's so cute to see all the "big girls" (she's teamed w/girls double and triple her age) coming to practice now w/Emily braids!
