Last Night, I attended the 2004 Prom. My tux was the traditional black, with a sliver tie/vest. Please note the lack of socks and sandles :p

I left my house to pick up my date, Kristin. I work with her, and we have been good friends for a couple years now. She also goes to another school. We took the usual pictures at her house, then went to my school for Prom Walk (5:45).

However, on route to the school, I realized that I had forgotten the ticket, and we had to back track to my house to get it

Prom Walk took forever! We were number 110, and by the time we got done, my friends Heather and Anthony were still waiting to go. They were 172. So at that point, we figured it would be best to head off.

We arrived at the Prom, and when we entered, we were greeted with an ice sculpture. Then behind it, was the ball room. Dinner started right after we got in.

We started with fruit. Then it was a salad (with choice of ranch or creamy Italian). The entree was baked chicken, with a twice baked potato. It also had seasonal veggies (However, when did zuccinni become seasonal in May?) The desset was in buffet style, with cakes, brownies, pudding, and cookies.

After dinner, the DJ opened the dance floor. The music was ok, but it was too much rap, and not enough slow dances. However, he did play the songs that are required at every dance (at least at my school): Baby Got Back, Sweet Home Alabama, Bohemian Rapsody, Back That Thing Up.

The Prom was over at midnight. We left about ten min early, when most people were filing out. I dropped Kristin off at her house, as she has her senior dinner dance tonight. Then I went back to the high school for After Prom. This year's theme was "A Night At The Emmies".

It was also an open buffet for food. We had Panera Bread (AKA The Bread Company in the midwest), and they had a coffee shop set up in the conner, to the theme of Friend's Central Perk. They also had "Tony's Pizza", which was Sopranno's themed, and 65 pizzas were donated from the local pizza shop.

Another booth had Kristpy Kreams. The final booth was The North Park Clubhouse Lounge. This is a restaurant from our area. Their specialty is "Lounge Fries". They are french fries, with melted cheese, ranch dressing, and bacon bits. This was unlimited, and so good! :hyper:

The activites at after prom included the ESPN Gym, with Sumo Wresteling, surf boarding, Twister, Ping Pong, and Hula Hoops.

We also had a Game Show Network Casino, the Survivor Men's room, and the I Love Lucy Ladies Room.

The after prom was over at 4:00. Prom 2004 was amazing! :D

Brad, take out the .org.jpg

It has to end in a single jpg, no period at the end.

I can't see them, Brad.

Both pictures are great (the 2nd still doesn't show up here, but I got it to view in another window). You both look great! Glad you had a great time. But I am curious too, what is "Prom Walk"?

Nice!! Thanks for sharing!! :)

DD's senior prom is 6/4.....
I'm tearful already ;)

I'm eager to know too, what's a prom walk?

Glad you had a great time. I think it's good that your school hosts an after party...prevents people from partying alone and getting into the situations that everyone at my school got into after prom, lol!

I can't see the pix, but your "after-prom" sounds like our "Grad Night". The seniors always have a blast at it!

Wow! What a prom! That sounds fantastic.

The only activities at my prom back in 1986 were the "Who can sneak the most liquor into the prom?" and "Who can get the drunkest without actually passing out?" contests. For someone who didn't drink, this was not a lot of fun.

It amazed me that girls and guys would spend hundreds of dollars for beautiful dresses and tuxes to go to our high school gym, get sloppy drunk, and make fools of themselves. Oh well, maybe the pics turned out well.

Seriously, I'm glad you had a great time, and you look very handsome!

Lori P. :)

YOu look so handsome, Brad!! :) And your date is pretty cute, too......

For those who ask - the Prom Walk is like our HS's Grand March (I live about 30 miles from Brad). Up here - the parents, relatives, friends, etc. pay $1.00 for admittance to the HS Auditorium (the fee is given to next year's Junior Class to help them offset the following year's Prom.)

The couples meet backstage (this year my DD was #58 out of 193 couples) - the stage is decorated to meet the theme of the Prom. An announcer reads the name of each girl and her escort - The girl usually comes through an archway and the boy comes from the side of the stage - they meet up and pose for a photo before exiting.

It's really nice to see all the couples in their Prom finery. It takes about 45 minutes to watch.

Thank you for sharing those wonderful pictures. I am glad you had a good time.

Tricia :flower:

What is Prom Walk?

Pam has it right. ::yes:: Our's is free, although I think it would be a good idea to charge, I might suggest it to the juniors next year.

So Prom Walks are not common

Nope, not here, and our after parties consist of renting out houses in the Hamptons with our closests friends and filling the fridges and coolers with as much alcohol as we can fit in our cars that we dropped off at the house the previous day.

The school doesn't sponsor anything. Half the people don't get to prom on time anyway, lol.

Great pictures and what a super sounding prom, and thanks for the details, like a mini trip report. Wow, you are getting big and habdsome there, dude, I remember some of your first pictures here like when you were like 12 or so. Remember those??

Our proms here are pretty organized also. I think both Natalie's and Vince's classes did the midnight cruises on big Lake Michigan cruise ships, with food and dancing all night into the morning. No time to go wrong, keep them busy, having good fun.

Thanks for sharing, Brad, hope to meet up with you some day.
