Braces

I'm getting mine in about 4 or 5 weeks. ummm.....just take some advil before you get them.

i have an orthdontist[sp?] appointment monday to see if i have to get some=/

I'm horrible for advice.
See, when I got mine, they didn't bug me that day (probably because I popped Advil every 4 hours).
But the next day, they hurt like hell.
And it was like taht for about a week, like they say.
But I refused, refused to eat soft food. I hate soft food
Yes, it was painful, but it is possible to do.

Take some tylonol before the appointment. It'll help alot.

Good luck! :goodvibes:

They're really not all that bad. I had them for four years. But now I'm really happy with my teeth, so it was definetly worth it. They might hurt at first and feel weird, but you'll get used to it.

i definately agree with everyone so far; take motrin, advil whatever 'pain killer' you use a little bit before then and it shouldnt be that bad. i'd stick to soft foods the first day but gradually {sp?} work your way to harder foods. One day i had my braces tightened and i went to bite on a ice cube.. oh man bad idea.

Good lucK! they aren't that bad once you get used to them, and that doesn't take long.

i have braces and have had them for about 1/2 a year and will have to have them for a nother year. they are not bad though a lot of the time i forget i even have them they pretty much become a part of you. now like everyone has said you might want to take a pain killer (or what ever you have) before you get them on, tighted, removed, ect. it really helps. when i got my braces on it did not hurt it didnt even really bother me too much that day but then the next few days are horible. getting them tighted are not that bad either just relax and dont get to worryed or over welmed 'cause it will make it worse.

I got my braces on last June. The first two weeks I wanted to rip my teeth out! Grrr I'm serious.
My advice is take a lot of Advil like everyone says, mostly BEFORE it starts to hurt.

It also hurts a lot after you get them tightened but only for a few days. You get used to it especially if you get them tightened a lot.

I admit it, I've broken like a thousand braces rules. I still chew gum, and eat chewy candies and popcorn. Nothing will stop me from my three loves! (Oh, I know I'm not the only one on here.;))

I know we must be sounding like braces are one of the most horrible things. But they're definintely not! After a while you'll forget they are even there.

I get mine off late next year. Just try and imagine how great it will be once you get them off!

I also reccomend that you...
USE THAT WAX.
The first week, not only did I have sore teeth, but blisters on the left side of my mouth.

Now, everytime I sleep, the top front braces rest on the bottom of the inside of my mouth, and it leaves indents and blisters. It's awful.
