Braces...

Well today I finally got my braces...

I hate them, and it hurt really bad when they put them in...

Take some advil, and maybe a nap
They'll hurt for about a week, I suggest eating soups or cups of noodles

When I get my braces tightened or when I first got them on all I wanted to was grind my teeth together for them to stop hurting

What kind do you have? I have the kind that doesn't need bands, but it does need power chains

I have braces and when i first got them they hurt for like 3 days....what helped me was ibuprofen/tylenol...hope i could help.:

It looks like my mouth is big.

I already took a lot of Advil...I dunno, normally I have a high tolerance for pain but now I feel like I want to scream.

I know how you feel! I have bands too...what i did to get through it was eat a lot of icecream..lol

Give it a week or so.
This is the time it hurts the most.
Tightenings aren't as bad at all, so don't worry.
It'll pass soon.

That sounds scary!

Advil, milkshakes, anything cold will stop the pain. I got mine off this January

I had braces. I got them off last week. At first it hurts but tomorrow they won't hurt. If they still hurt next week tell your orthodontist. There may be something wrong.

Once your lips have gotten used to having these piece of hardware in your mouth, it'll look fine

But I have: braces, power chains, an overbite corrector (like on my back teeth on either side I have medal caps on them and a bar that goes around the inside of my teeth, I also have it on the top, and there's these 2 pieces on the sides that move my jaw back when I shut my mouth)

By Bands do you mean like regular braces?

Usually by day 3 they stop hurting, eat lots of ice cream and soup and soft foods, try not to bite down hard, it makes them hurt more.

I have braces ^-^

Mine hurt for about the first week.Other then that I mean when you go in to get them tighted it doesnt hurt like it does when you first get them on!
Just take some advil, maybe even if your able to put a coupl on your pocket if your going to be out and about.

I used to. But when I got them off, I never wore my retainer, so they're back to the way they were. Personally, I think they look nice all crooked, but I have to get them again in July.

They hurt me like crazy. I had to get a Tylenol 3 (In other words, Tylenol with codene or however you spell it) prescription to take after I got them tightened each month... my mom thinks it's cause I went to the cheapo orthodontist. I'm going to a better place next time.

They are sorea nd tight every time you go and get new bands, and especially if you get a new wire.

Thank god my braces days are over and done with!!!!!!!

I'm getting mine soon.

Generally, most people take advil before they get anything done, so by the time it's done, the medication has started working.

I know it will hurt for a week or so, but I'm not willing to give up solid food to avoid pain. I'm really not.
I think it's funny when people actually go to the effort to brush their teeth for 45 minutes, just because they find it painful when they go quick. I'd do a quick run and give up.

I'm getting braces on top first, just because if I get them at the same time, it will brake the bottom brackets.
Later on I'll have elastics to help align.
