Braces behind the teeth?

My dd13 really wants these. I know they cost more, but I guess I will see how much more. Does anyone have any experience with these? Are they harder to manage than the other ones?

All of the kids I know with braces have regular ones, and are finished before HS anyway. ETA - I'm guessing they're more expensive, and since our orthodontist charges $6300, there is NO WAY I'd go more expensive.

Mine tried to talk me into these, I think she said Miley Cyrus had them! We opted for the regular ones and her teeth are beautiful if I do say so myself.

I have been trying to tell my daughter for at least a year that I was sure she had behind the teeth braces. She lisps a little when she talks now. (Miley, not my daughter)

I think Melissa Gilbert also had these. Half-pint sure looks different than when she did when the series began.

I know it was several years ago but my orthodontist said that those type of braces did not produce as stable of a result as braces place on the outside of the teeth. It was something about how they pushed/pulled the teeth with a different dynamic than regular braces. That might have changed by now but back then he said most orthodontists would not reccommend using the braces on the inside of the teeth.

DNiece has a semi-clear set of regular braces. I was very impressed with their appearance--no heavy metal look at all!
