I have been wanting to ask this question for quite some time but it is kinda personal, lol. :rolleyes1

I am getting married in a little more than 2 months and I don't have my bra yet to go under my wedding gown.
I hated the bra that they gave me to try on at the bridal store...it was kind of itchy and not comfortable.
What bra did you wear under your gown????

I am plus size and am a bit chesty. ~ I never thought I would be typing this but! All of you have been so much help with everything else.
Any help would or advice would be wonderful and so appreciated :flower3:

Deb - I can so relate! I hated that bra the bridal salons gave me to try on! When I got married (19 years ago) I ended up using my own bra (it wasn't a sleeveless gown) that also held in my tummy. It was kind of like a girdle & bra in one. This time (for our VR) I will probably do the same thing.

Just make sure your dress is fitted with whatever bra you decide. It will make a world of difference! Good luck!

Poke around and find a lingerie store that will measure you and that stocks bras in all sizes. I normally wear a 40DD but when I got measured, they put me in something like a 42G. G

Yes, G.

I didn't even know bras got that big. It made all the difference in making my gown (for my first wedding) lay properly and kept me from looking like I was bubbling over the bodice of my dress.

Good luck!

Thank you for both of your inputs!

Do you happen to remember what the brand name was of your bra? I have been looking online under Bustiere's, but it is hard to really tell if it will be comfortable on.
I want something that is comfortable to wear all day long. One downfall is that I don't want to spend tons of money by going into a local bra shop whose prices will most likely be slightly inflated. Then again if I order online I can't be sure of the fit. :confused3

Do you have the type of dress that you can have cups sewn in?

^^ That's what I'm doing, getting the bra sewn in.

Thank you for the advice about going in a store to try it on and then buying online. Why didn't I think of that! LOL
I have no idea if a bra can be sewn in but I am going to ask the seamstress when I go in for my fitting and definitely find out.
Has anybody tried the seamless bras? Like Feline??

The Feline is great, but I'm a smaller size 32B, so I don't know how they are for larger sizes. Make sure you go to a store with certified bra fitters. You would think Victoria Secret would do a good job with fitting...while they did make one measurement with a measuring tape on me....they did not do a good job. There are two different places that you should be measured to be measured correctly. I was recently at JCPenney with my mom (she lives in a small town and JCPenney's is the best store in her town) and noticed that they have certified fitters, so I made my mom get fitted. The lady did a great job fitting her. She had been wearing the completely wrong size for who knows how long. I think Macy's may have good fitters as well. Just make sure you go to a store that has certified fitters, and try on lots of brands and styles. Then buy on line if you need to.

You can also order online and return items that don't fit. In the stores by me, you can't really find anything larger than a DD and I didn't want to go to a specialty store. I found barenecessitites.com had a good selection of larger sizes. I had bought a dominique longline bra and really liked the fit of it. I have also worn goddess strapless longlines in the past. They are supportive but I don't think that type of thing will ever really be comfortable.

What is your dress like? My dress had built in boning and there was no need for me to wear a bra with it, and I always wear a bra. So I would suggest if you do buy from barenecessities to leave the tag on until you're sure you need it.

Thank you!! I looked at the website and really liked the bras. I think that I am going to go with the size that they gave me when I was trying on my dress and just order it. I have time to return it for a new one if needed. My dress does have built in boning but I'm not sure about the built in bra. I'm going to go get it out of the closet and look it over.

Thank you everybody for all of the advice! :flower3: I had a hard time even posting this question, but I knew this was the right place to find others that either went through or are going through the same thing. You girls are great!

My family was kind enough to take pictures of me in my bra. LOL

You can kind of see the bottom of it here and it just had 'bra hooks' all up the back.

It was a corset then my crinoline was on top. I joked that I didn't if my dress was tight or loose because none of my dress actually touched me.

Thank you for posting those pics. I will never forgive my family if they do that to me, lol.
Do you remember what the name of your bra is? It looks like one that I saw online but I can't remember the name of it.

You're welcome! They have a prepaid label that they include with the items which makes returns really easy. They do charge you a small fee for the return shipping, but I'm pretty sure if you exchange the item then you don't get charged. They also have great bathing suits! I can never find bra sized bathing suits that fit me and they have a lot of styles...so just in case you need something for lounging by the pool too. ;)

My dress was the same way, it's built in boning but no cups. Aside from some worries about a "wardrobe malfunction", it was actually really comfortable. I never go without a bra, but at my fitting the bra was making my dress fit weird, so I had no choice.
