Taking our 10 year old nephew! His first trip, my first with a kid boy. I am good with girls, being one and all. My son is too young to know, WHAT in the world are 10 year old boys into?

When our son was 10 he was up for anything. Should be a fun time:)

Duhhh. Jedis and Pirates. So JTA and POTC/PLATSI. :goodvibes

See "Jedi Training Academy Tips" by Hound 109 www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1478699

PLATSI - take him to Pirates Lair on Tom Sawyer Island.

At DCA then Cars Land seems like a natural.

I just finished a trip with my boys (5,7, & 10). They LOVED Star Tours, Pirates, Space Mountain, Haunted Mansion, Soarin', California Screamin', and we spent a lot of time on Tom Sawyer's Island. They really enjoyed anything that didn't involve princesses! Also, be prepared to spend a lot of time eating. I think that is all 10 year old boys do!

I took my 12 and 10 year old nephews a couple of months ago. They liked it so much I got 2-day park hoppers for later this year.

The 10-year old was up for everything; the 12-year old was still afraid of the roller coasters. We hit the attractions, including the shows and they enjoyed all of it. For lunch, figure out the kind of food he likes, and take him someplace he will enjoy. We ate at the Tomorrowland Terrace, because we were there, and they were hungry NOW, lol. The 10-year old had to get the R2-D2 dessert holder. He still has it.

There is also Cars Land, and he's sure to enjoy that, too.

I had to remember to put in break times so they wouldn't get too tired out. :)

And on this note, maybe a visit to ESPN Zone in DTD.....food and sports, two things boys love most!

ALL of the rides that have FastPass (link). :thumbsup2

Buzz Lightyear (BLAB) & the Matterhorn.

And there are some games and stuff in Innoventions.

In DCA: It's Tough to be a Bug & Redwood Creek Challenge Trail.

:earsboy:

My boys are 7 and 9. All things mentioned above. Definitely redwood creek challenge trail. Buzz over and over and over. Everything w/ FP. Especially coasters. I still make them go on the Fantasyland classics too and they are ok with it. They aren't too into shows or parades, but I do make them do those sometimes too. And mine love treats, especially anything where you can make your own. And they also love playing any kind of game where you win something... esp. on Paradise pier, even though you will those stuffed animals. They still like winning.

Boys are so fun! I will take that over Princesses and Fairies any day! ;)

Agreed with everything above.

A 10yo would have been 4 when cars first came out so it is likely a very favorite of his. It is of mine for sure.

Just a warning that my boys don't enjoy the shows like WOC or F! Too much standing around and the show doesn't hold their attention. They would much rather be still riding rides. Also beware.... If the lines are short They love to ride same ride multiple times in a row!

Oooohhh also liked Autopia a lot

My boy is only (almost) 7, but I will add Toy Story to the ride list. My son LOVES shooting at things, and the slingshot type shooter on TSMM is a HUGE hit with him. When we were there last summer we were behind a family in line whose son was about 10, and he really talked up the ride to my son (who already loved it and needed no encouragement whatsoever). It might just be a nice "downtime" ride between roller coasters or it might be a huge hit, but I think it is worth at least one ride. I mean, you score points on the ride, and competition is HUGE with boys. Same concept as Buzz, and DS LOVES LOVES LOVES that ride too. But TS is different, and really fun.

We will be making a short (2 days) trip to Disneyland in 2 weeks:goodvibes so my boys ages 8 and 10 just wrote out a list of their favorite things that they want to do so I'll share their list: Big thunder, CA screamin, Grizzly River, Splash, Indy, Haunted Mansion, Jungle cruise (@ night), Radiator Springs-racers, luigis and mater, matterhorn, tea cups, pirates, space mt, tarzan's tree house, buzz and Toy Story Mania, Tower of Terror, soarin, and silly swings.
I second the Redwood challenge and Tom Sawyer's Island-great fun! Also recommend the Jedi Training, refer to Hydro guys link-the tips work and the experience is magical. My boys also have a list of their favorite foods:rotfl2: my 10year old has a hollow leg-he is ALWAYS eating. He loves Big Thunder ranch all you can eat. The meal is pricey but we do it as a mid afternoon meal and this takes care of both his lunch and dinner. Another fun thing is going to the Lego store in Downtown Disney. My boys also love character interactions and getting autographs. Boys are FUN.:cool1: Enjoy!

My DS10 is really into his hidden Mickey book. He has been planning a scavenger hunt for his birthday trip when his cousin gets to go with us. He is really into the big roller coasters and still appreciates the FL rides. He really enjoyed Redwood Creek challenge too. Have fun!!

Ten years old is a perfect age for boys at Disney! Hit all the coasters (Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain, Matterhorn, Screamin', etc...) Star Tours, Buzz Lightyear, Pirates of the Caribbean, Tower of Terror (family favorite), Toy Story, Indiana Jones, and FOOD. Prep them about what they will be able to do, let them check out some youtube videos of the rides and attractions, and then give them some free reign at the park. They'll show you what they want to do. Just be prepared to run as you follow them around the park.
Since they probably won't be interested in parades or shows (except maybe Jedi Training Academy) it'll make for more ride time. Some of my fondest memories are when everyone else at Disney would stop to watch the shows/parades, and the young (and young-at-heart) would ride a coaster (Big Thunder, I'm talking about you...), then run as fast as we could through the line queue, and jump back on the ride. Sometimes we wouldn't even have to get off the coaster, because there was no one else in line. We would do this over, and over, and over, until the other guests started getting back into line. Great times.

My kids will do this on Splash Mountain! We rode it 14 times one trip!! My boys would rather go on rides than watch any shows.

I agree. Old enough to ride the big rides, still young enough to enjoy the smaller rides, still excited about meeting characters but not begging to stand in line to wait for them (so character meals were a hit!), big enough to walk without worrying about strollers and things, not having to carry a big bag of extra "stuff" to keep them occupied through the day.

If he likes Legos, be prepared to spend alot of time (and possibly money) in the Lego store. It looks even more exciting since the remodel.

My little brother is 10, his favorites at DLR:
- Splash
- Indy
- BTMRR
- Animation
- food
- food
- food

Really, like has been said before, 10 is pretty much the perfect boy age for DLR.

This is so great to hear. I was a little worried. Skipping the F! is a great idea because my little ones would have trouble waiting for that too. Yes he loves legos so I think my husband will have to take him, while I skip off to Trader Sams, well I have the 2 kids so it will be more like collapsing outside.

All above are good recommendations. They will probably love Innoventions.

Also, the shooting gallery in Frontierland.

While I agree with skipping most shows, they may really enjoy The Laughing Stock IF it's outside. There's running around on rooftops, etc....

There's lots for them to enjoy,
Dreams
