No, we are not going to Disney for Easter :sad2: but I seem to be having trouble coming up with cool Easter Basket goodies for my boys. They will get just a little bit of candy, so I am looking for other stuff to fill. The problem is because they are so far apart, I don't know what to buy anymore. They will be 14, 9, and the baby will be 11 months for Easter. I am especially having trouble with the baby since he won't be getting any candy at all. Any ideas?? And while we are on the subject of boys gifts, how about Valentines Day? What do all of you do that have boys? Please help!!!

For my daughters 5th Easter the bunny put her basket attached her basket to a new playstation 2 and he put some playstation games in the basket( I know she is a girl not a boy but playstation is sexless LOL)...last year she got some theater tickets in the basket, I have put toys in there too..she gets a lot of chocolate in tehre since I work for a chocolate company but she gets a bunch of other stuff in there too like leapster tapes,...

How about a few cool bath toys for the little one? Maybe a rubber duckie or two? :donald: :donald:

You could get bubbles, movie tickets, or for the older boys if they go to arcades, how about a container of tokens for them to use.

For the older boys:
Yo-yo
Magic/card trick sets
silly putty
inexpensive handheld games (like hangman, poker)
science experiment kits (they have small, inexpensive ones at Walmart)
Model car kit (they make them for different age groups)
disposable cameras
batteries for their handheld games

For the baby:
Any small toys like cars, trucks etc
bibs
animal crackers/toddler cookies
stuffed animals

Last year, at Target, they had already made easter baskets with different themes. I got my 4yo a Scooby Doo basket. It came with a small skateboard, a ball, some candy and a few other things.

I usually get my boys the little plastic sand buckets and fill it with lots of cheap toys and games from the dollar store. They love it!

i detest easter grass (nasty, messy stuff that you are still finding shreds of in the carpet when you put up the christmas tree!) so both my kids (boy and girl) can always count on getting a new pillow case lining their easter basket. i get whatever cartoon character they are into at the time (this year will likely be "hi-hi puffy" and "masked wrestlers".

i also put a sheet of stickers in each basket that designates which plastic easter egg is their's on the easter egg hunt (i divide the number of eggs by kids and put a sticker on each so the older only goes for the ones that have their sticker on it-makes it more equitable for the younger, less experienced "hunter").

We do collectable coins...DH goes to the coin shop and picks up a few.

Also, we put cash in eggs....fun denominations like dollar pieces, foreign coins, two dollar bills etc.

We used to do trading cards (yu gi oh), but DS doesn't like them so much anymore.

Gameboy games, little lego sets, special drawing pencil set, a tomagachi, CD's...even 9 year olds like CD's, a how to draw book,

Just whatever they like.

I can relate to the age difference, my kids are 22, 14 and 9. I stopped doing easter baskets last year, but when I use to do them, I would give things like trading cards, DVDs, special food items only "they" liked so they didn't have to share like odd Jones soda and beef jerky flavors. I usually just go with a special gift for valentines day, one child is getting hot sauce, one is getting a grooming kit and the third is getting gas gift cards.

The Easter Bunny leaves Disney Dollars at our house. :cool1:

All of the suggestions are good. We usually do items such as a small lego set, a book, a gameboy game, a dvd, and/or an action figure, etc. When ds was younger, Matchbox cars were a big hit. That, and a lot of chocolate! Baskets aren't that big, so they are not hard to fill. If you leave $$ or gift certificates to the movies for your older kids, you can put them inside plastic eggs.

If your kids trade or collect pins, that would be a good thing to put into Easter baskets.

For the 11 month old, I like the idea of bath toys! Or maybe a small stuffed animal (that would probably fill most of the basket) or a small Fisher Price toy. You can put Cheerios (or whatever snack he likes) in plastic eggs.

Has anybody seen if these are in store yet please?

Thanks,

I usually put sporting goods in DS's easter basket -- a new soccer ball or a baseball glove, for instance. Also, age-appropriate computer games go over well. New sunglasses are good too. Also, crafts items like play-doh, crayons, etc.

This year, we'll be going on a cruise a couple weeks after Easter, so my kids are getting summer items that they can use for the cruise. DS4 is getting snorkeling gear, some new sunglasses, a small bucket and shovel, etc. DD2 will be getting a small bucket and shovel, new sunglasses, swim goggles, and a new swimsuit.

You may also want to run a search over on the Budget Board for Christmas stocking ideas. I know there were a few posts with stocking stuffer ideas for boys at Christmas time -- many of the same ideas would work well for Easter baskets.
