My DS will be having his FHC in April and I've been looking online to find a suit we might like for him. DH would like to have him in all white and everything I find looks cheesy or is made completely out of polyester:scared: . Does anyone know where I can find a decent suit in a cotton or wool blend?

Thanks!

I lucked out and got ds's suit at Marshalls for about $25 (and picked up a bunch for his friends). It was blue - I'm not a big fan of the whole all white look, although it's done here in NJ.

JC Penny's was having a sale on all of their suits and separates.

I am glad that the kids and grandkids had to wear the robes. They wore dress pants and that was it. The girls had to wear skirts or dresses......saved a bunch of money cause the robes were 15 dollars to rent.

I got ds's white communion suit from a specialty store that sells Holy Items, Communion and Baptism outfits, and Irish Specialties. It is called Cross and Shamrock in Hamilton Square NJ. I don't know if they have a web site, but check, beacuse their suits were really nice.

My son didn't wear white but we originally got his suit at Macy's. Then I went into Sears and they were cheaper (and actually nicer) but I also got $$ off for opening an account. I'd be afraid to buy a suit online. We tried on alot of suits in different sizes before we found one. And even at that it had to be altered.

You can find some in consignment shops if you don't mind used. It might be worth a look around.

Does your son have a preference about what he wants to wear? My son had the option of all white or navy blue pants with white shirt and white tie and he chose the latter. It was what he was comfortable with and he still looked very nice. I think only one or two boys had on all white.

I don't know if you are on Long Island but there is a great store called Cathys Touch in Merrick. I bought both my daughters Communion dresses there and she has suits for boys.Might be a bit pricey but worth a look if you're local. My ds is making his Communion in May but he's wearing a hand me down navy suit from his cousin:thumbsup2

First thing to do is make sure a white suit is part of the allowed dress code (if you haven't already). With all of my kids communions there were very specific attire for the boys such as colors of suits for the older 2 and then with the last one suits were out and it was navy pants, white shirt, white tie.

The girls were allowed any type of white dress and all 3 had a no gloves, no purse rule.

Are you in New Jersey, the City, or on LI?

The LI option would be the Tri-County Flea Market. There are numerous places that sell the communion-baptism etc regalia. I would stick with the Catholic Supply stores if needed. You'll find something.

When DSs made their First Communion I did not want the hassle of fitting a suit ( they were only allowed black ) and I knew they would never wear it again, and their body types meant DS#2 would not be able to wear DS#1's old suit.

I just rented them a tuxedo. It was fitted for them, the pants didn't need to be hemmed and I didn't have to do a thing:thumbsup2

If you are set on white, I'm sure you can rent that too.

We had a dark suit rule as well. I would make sure before you buy anything.

When DS made his FHC , the boys could only wear black or blue suits.

I bought his at a Childrens specialty store. It was expensive, but he looked so handsome. He wore a Pluto tie also. :)

We got a bonus and he actually wore the suit twice. We sailed on the Magic later that year and DS wore his suit again on formal night.

I know they have the option of white or navy. DS's only thing is that he DOES NOT want to wear a tuxedo. I wish MIL still had DH's because he was the same size when he made his FHC as DS is now, but the suit might be kind of yellow:rotfl2: !

I will try Cathy's Touch. I do like the all white suit, but hate the shiny, polyester type looks they have.

We bought DS's suit at Kohl's. It was great quality, inexpensive, and it lasted a long time!

Try Symms over in Westbury. They have tons of suits and they even alter them. I would just call first to see if they have what you are looking for rather than shlepping all the way there. You can also try Lobells at Sunrise Mall. They used to carry a lot of that stuff and their prices are good. Good luck!
