Boys Being Hosed...

Which Character Meal would you pick?

  • AL’S Toy Barn Blowout - HS

  • High Seas Hijinx - MK

  • Banquet Fit for a Prince - Epcot

  • I would do them all!

  • Disney has enough Character Meals! - none

I chose to do them all. Especially the one with Capt. Jack  It would be a huge drool fest for all of us ladies! :cloud9:

I'd be willing to bet it'd be more difficult to get a reservation for a Capt. Jack character meal than Le Cellier for dinner.

DS, then 3, still talks about all the characters he met and is just thrilled to be going to Disney again. At the time his favorite was Jasmine. He thinks the princesses are hot ;)

And yes, he is sitting here next to me in his Power Rangers costume :rotfl2: (BTW, he's 5).

I think there does need to be more for boys, I'm lucky to have boys that love the girl stuff just as much though, thank goodness! Of course, when he's 8 or 9, that may no longer be the case.....then again, those princesses will still be "hot":rotfl2:

I always thought that the Backlot Express should have been turned into a Star Wars themed restaurant modeled after the Mos Eisley Cantina. Not quite sure what kind of food you would serve but the atmosphere would be awesome. Possibly have a meet n greet with R2-D2 and C-3PO in the waiting area ala Cinderella @ CRT (because they couldnt be inside ofcourse). Then you could have Han & Chewie, Boba Fett & Greedo, and Jawas running around the Cantina. Cast members would be decked out in sand garb (ala the bartender). Talk about a destination dinner. Keep it very mercenary/neutral.

Other "boy" dinners include a hero/villain rest where you could possibly see Hook vs Peter Pan battle, Hercules vs Hades, Robin Hood vs Sheriff of Rottingham/Prince John. I could see a lot of antics going on here.

Oh, that is the coolest idea!!!! :wizard:

I would love to see a pirate themed one myself. But I also think that boys would be very receptive to any one of those ideas (well maybe not the prince one so much). I know my brother(10) would be very excited to dine at one of those character meals. He is refusing I mean full on huffing and puffing and stomping his feet at the idea of dining with princesses. You should take your idea to Disney. Wonderful ideas!

A month or so ago, I remarked to my DW that I thought they should have a Toy Story character meal. I think it would be a great idea especially with Toy Story Mania opening this year & Toy Story 3 supposedly coming out in 2009. My DS loves Toy Story, so he would be in heaven if such a meal were available. IMO, I think it would be a very popular meal. In fact, I think it would easily be more popular than the current character meal @ Hollywood studios featuring JoJo's Circus & The Little Einsteins.

I also like the pirate themed character meal idea. I'm not big on a prince themed character meal, but might do it anyway.

Had to put in the Prince one as the dog. Every multiple choice questionairre has one that is completely wrong. I do however like the STAR WARS theme or the Incredibles/Monsters, Inc. I would easily do these!

Thanks for the input....it's kinda fun to dream!

My son would LOVE a Villians meal or Star Wars meal. We would DEFINITELY do both of those.

Ooooh- I love this idea!! I think all are great except for the dining with the Princes- I think that would be more for the ladies as boys don't really get into the prince thing IMO.

I agree- there's not enough for the boys. DS is only 2 so he LOVES Mickey but as he ages there will need to be more boy friendly dining options- it's really a winning proposition for Disney. Look how well CRT does.

I love the Toy Story and Pirate ideas as well as Star Wars & Monsters Inc.. Great idea! I'm struggling with what ADRs to make for DS9, DS5 & DD2. I'm leaning toward Chef Mickey's & Crystal Palace as they seem the most boy geared, even though my DS9 is totally not interested in characters. Star Wars and Pirates would be great for older boys! :thumbsup2

My boys ( all grown now:) always enjoyed all the character meals growing up, but still remember the Hunchback breakfast so fondly. One of our best interactions, would love to see another boy or at least gender neutral character meal.

I don't even have any boys (just one girl), but I completely agree. Disney is out of touch with their lack of "boy" themed meals and experiences. I think they all sound great...DD4 would like all of these, as well. I hope Disney is reading!!!!:)

Ditto....and I'm so glad that I have a little girl because it is geared toward little girls and I have a girly girl (not sure how she ended up like that but she did). However, my little girly girl would also go for a Pirate or Buzz meal too. Or, even better, ah, to eat with a Power Ranger :goodvibes

Really too bad that Disney has so missed the boat on this. :confused3

Years ago there really were some great options to go to for our boys.....especially the one on the Soundstage at MGM.

One year we went to an entire Aladdin one with Genie, Jafar, Jasmine, Aladdin....and I am sure there were others because there was about six of them.

One year we went and it was John Smith, John Radcliffe, Meeko, Pocohontas, Quasimodo, Frollo........I know we met Phoebus and Esmerelda but not sure if it was inside.

Plenty of places to host - Artist Point used to have a breakfast. Why not some of the other restaurants that have no breakfast menu opening up and make more money during dead time. I think they would have no trouble booking them.
