I have two little boys who are 2 and 3 years old. We are getting ready to move into a new home and I'm decorating both of their rooms. My oldest son has requested a pirate room and I've had a easy time pulling it together. However, my two year old's room has been a little harder. Breckin loves anything Disney related, but he doesn't have a favorite movie or character. He has not voiced an opinion about anything in his new room, except he wants a "big boy's" bed like his brothers. I had plans for doing a Buzz Lightyear room. I was going to keep it simple. Blue walls, some Toy Story posters framed in neon green, some pictures of him with Buzz from our last trip, and a Buzz comforter. Not to themy (I know that's not a real word :) ) but with a Buzz feel to it. Now I've ran across this:
www.wallpaperstogo.com/rooms/children/room513.htm. He loves the sharks from Finding Nemo and I think this would be really neat in his room. But I hestiate to that much wall paper in a two years old room and I worry that it might be overkill for him. Give me your honest opinions, I really do value someone else's views concerning this. I know that he will out grow anything thing I do, but we didnt do a theme in his nursery and I feel like he's only little once.

I wouldn't do anything to his room yet. If he doesn't have an opinion, just paint it plain. In a few years he might want a change and he can pick what he wants then. I would definitely not wallpaper a mural unless my child really wanted it.

I would keep it as simple as possible. Wait until he tells you what he wants and do it then. I think that poster could be a little scary for him. They will be large and scary.

I dont know. When my DS was 2 those sharks in the dark would have sent him crying into my room. What about the Buzz border? They had 2 different ones. I have had to change my sons room a few times over past 13 yrs.We did a really juvenile dinosaur theme when he was getting his big boy bed and he out grew it by the time he was in second grade. I would try to find something that is easier to replace than a full wall mural. Have you seen the big wall stickers ? We had disney babies ones when DD was little and they come off pretty easliy.

Its probably just me but that shark would keep me up nights. lol

Even if it is Nemos pal Bruce. I thin k in the dark things can look creepy.....

I would just paint his room now and maybe add a border. You might do themed bedspread and curtains which can be replaced when he out grows them.

I liked your original idea of doing the bright paint, with framed posters and and Buzz bedspread and agree with the others that the mural might be a bit much for a 2 year old. Plus, it will be a lot of work to replace in a few years.

My first thought when you said he liked all things Disney was close to yours, but with each wall done for a different movie/character. Toy Story on one wall, Finding Nemo on another (then you could do smaller pictures like the mural and maybe they wouldn't be so scary) and 2 other movies that he likes on the remaining walls. You could also add framed pics of him with the characters to match that wall, or from an area that showcases a certain movie (like the Nemo display at Epcot).

Have fun!

SleepyMom,
I think you might have solved my creative block. Thank you :) . I'm thinking a whole Pixtar theme. I have some prints from Nemo, Monsters INC, and a Bug's life. I'm sure I could still use the Buzz comforter and get a few Toy Story prints. I have no doubt that "Cars" will be a two year old boy's marketing delight- so I could save room for some Cars stuff also. I'm sorry I'm just rambling- but really thank you. I think it's a plan.

Thank you also everyone else for your opinions- the last thing I need is to scar my two year with sharks that are larger than him :) . Thank you for helping me to think this through.

You are welcome, post pics when you get done... I think it will be cute. Monster's Inc and Bug's Life are perfect choices.

Also, your post inspired me to start a thread showing themed bedroom pictures, so thank you to you as well.

Sounds like some great ideas!
