I have a friend visiting in April and her DS5 would love to do BBB, has anyone had any issues doing the crown package for a boy?

I can't imagine why Disney would have any problem, but why the "Crown" package vs Royal or Knight? Does the boy want his fingernails painted and make-up put on?

Not BBB, but I was talking to a mom in line at the WoD register who was buying her son a princess dress and POTC outfit. She said he wanted the dress and she initially said no but he asked for months and she was worried it would sell out. I didn't bat an eye and neither did the CM at the register.

I would call Disney and ask, but I don't think it will be a problem. :)

I agree to call first. I was looking at the BBB website and it specifically says "For Girls" on the princess stuff and "for boys" on the knight stuff. Better to be safe so no feelings are hurt by whatever their policy is.

Can I ask a question which I promise has NO negativity attached to it at all?
Please read the ENTIRE thing before getting upset!

Since he wants hair and make-up - is he transgender?
The reason I ask is if he is transgendered or exploring then why not just let him dress in "girl's clothes" for the entire day - then when he gets there he is "a girl" and they can't say anything about it? I think that if he were mine and was interested I would just do that to solve any potential problems. Then if the family is uncomfortable RE bathrooms just use the companion/family ones for the day.

I have a friend whose daughter is in elementary school and was born a boy. She fully identifies with being female and has changed her name. If she wanted a make-over would anyone question it? Of course not because she IS a girl. If your friends little one isn't as far along in the process then maybe getting to have a magical day at DL would be an amazingly unique thing.

I also have sons who when they were little just liked to dress up in any old random thing and could easily go from ballgowns to spacemen. It never came up but if they wanted a princess make-over and weren't actually transgendered or exploring, and hence wouldn't be in the parks wearing "female" clothes I would call Disney and see what the policy is and then ask the kids to make their decision on what they want to do based on that - IE skip it or not.

I appreciate the advice. He is not transgender (or if is it hasn't discussed it-no one would mind either way) but loves Princesses and 'girly" stuff and thankfully has wonderful parents/older brother/friends who don't care or want to guide him into more boys" stuff.
He will likely be wearing his Elsa dress but i'm sure if you asked him if he was a girl he would say no.
I'm sure he is not the first or last boy interested in doing this and am hoping that Disney wouldnt care what package he chooses.

If he's wearing an Elsa dress anyway I'd just go for it :) I don't think Disney is going to touch that one with a ten thousand foot pole. You want to be on the news telling a "cross dressing" little one they couldn't do that. But of course phone anyway - find out who the manager is that day maybe so you can have everything smoothed out before hand.

FYI - My little girls are going as fairy princesses AND we also have Woody and Buzz costumes packed. I just don't get why an adorable little girl dressed as Buzz is "cute" but a sweet little boy dressed as Cinderella is "wrong".

I hope everything goes great and you have a fun trip!

:thumbsup2

I know what you mean my DD wears boys undies because they don't make Handy Manny and Jake & the Neverland pirate ones for girls.

There's also a place that does Frozen makeovers in DtD, so they'll have 2 options.

Ah yes Anna and Elsa boutique-it was meant to be open when we were there last Sept-I was so disappointed it wasnt!

I cannot not see Disney having an issue with it. They are pretty inclusive to everything. Maybe call and see if its ok but I can't imagine it not being. It would be a PR nightmare if they refused to let a boy do the "girl" packages at BBB. I think the website labels boy and girl because in general that is who does it. But if you want it, and are willing to pay for it, Disney will let it happen.

If you call please let us know what their response is. I wouldn't think it'd be a big deal but you never know.

These replies are so nice to see. :) I have a son who loves princess things and until very recently was obsessed with Tinkerbell (when the new Neverbeast comes out it will probably start the obsession again!). He loves Jake and things too, pretty equally - he doesn't see a difference and we haven't ever made things boy/girl. Some members of our family were pretty openly rude about his liking "girly" things, which luckily he didn't seem to understand at the time, but was hard for us to navigate in front of him to halt the conversation. Growing up, I was a "tomboy" in a lot of ways and it was *encouraged* - and yet boys who like "girl" things are scorned. Makes me sad.

I can't see disney making an issue of it, but maybe call ahead to check. I hope he has a magical experience!

If he wants to be Elsa Let him be Elsa and if anyone gives you a hard time Screw them !! I think all children should be allowed to imagine and have fun!! Who wouldn't want to be Elsa she has awesome Ice Powers!! Here is A disney Sister saying go for it !!
