My boyfriend has never been to Disney before and he just can't imagine it could possibly be for him. I've been plenty of times and cannot get enough of the place (I'm the one that always gets asked by friends, family and co-workers why I always chose to go to Disney! Sigh...they just don't get it :lovestruc ).

Anyway, I've chosen the Magic Kingdom as our first park but am fretting about which ride to take him to first in order for him to think that maybe Disney World could possibly be for him!

Although I would be the first one to run to Space Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain, these rides would not be for him because he suffers with Crohn's and that would just do his stomach in for the day, if not for the whole trip....

So knowing this, what ride or 2 (you get the idea) should I drag him to first in order to put a smile on his face and "open his eyes" to the wonders of the World.

Thank you for all your opinions. I appreciate each and every opinion I have ever received from this terrific site and take your comments very seriously.

:cloud9:

I love Splash Mountain...but I know my boyfriends Crohn's would definitely kick in with that ride! Any other suggestions?

I agree with PiperPizzaz and also maybe, Pirates of the Caribbean and Haunted Mansion. :wizard:

At Epcot, Soarin is a great ride to show him the magic! :teeth:

I know that once he gets there he will love it! Just being there brings out the kid in everyone!

Don't worry, you both will have a great time! :cheer2:

I would Hit Buzz it's a great ride you get to compete with each other and can control if to spin or just position your car for the right shots. Then TTA,

Or start him with HM You can't go wrong they are both Disney and calm ride.

I don't really have any experience with Crohn's, but I'm assuming he can't go on any "rough" rides? If he can do splash mountain then that would be great. But if not, I personally love the Pirates of the Carribean and the Haunted Mansion. I've also heard that people are getting addicted to Buzz Light Year. Good luck and have fun!

Buzz Lightyear and Pirates. I would hold off on It's a Small World for a little while if he's anti-Disney, that might frost his cake right off the bat.

There's alway Dumbo or the Jungle Cruise.

I second the suggestion for Buzz.... :thumbsup2

My hubby, who was a non-Disney type of guy can't get enough of it.....It's like living in a video game.

I agree with the others on Haunted Mansion and Pirates. DH was skeptical and I never will forget we were on our way back to Pop on our first stay and he looks at me and says, "This has to be the happiest place on earth." So he gets it now.

I dont know how much he is in for shows, but at Magic Kingdom they have an amazing 3D featured called Philar Magic! This was the first thing we did at Magic Kingdom when we went last month and we loved it. It sent the whole day up. I would highly suggest that! :cool1:

Splash! It has such a Dis feel. Also, get him to Mickey's PhilharMagic to give him more feel of Disney :thumbsup2

I won a trip to WDW at work for sales back when I was 19. I had stood up for the annoucement and saw my boss with a Mickey Sweatshirt in her hands (not knowing it was for me!) and I said "Oh, I habe no use for WDW" :rotfl: Ya then when I went I liked it, but it wasn't until I went again 3 years ago that I got HOOKED! At 19 I was about the night life with my gf's, but now I am there for the Magic... it's weird that I actually went form "whatever" to obsession LOL.

Dump him!! Just Jokin! Actually I wouldn't sweat it. Once he's there you'll have a great time. DH had been once the first time we went and that was as a teen and he didn't remember much of it...so he wasn't completely psych'd the 1st time he just was glad for the family time away ...Now he's just as much a Disney freak as me! :woohoo: I converted him and you likely will too. It's hard to get excited about something you have no idea what to expect. No other theme park does it better..paying every attention to detail. Take Care and have a great trip! Kathy

Buzz :bounce: .... what guy wouldn`t like being in a living video game  ! If he continues being stubborn, stick him on Small World for a few hours :p while you go have fun :rotfl: .

Just about everyone loves the Peter Pan attraction. :earsboy:

I would also hit buzz first my fiance loved it. My Fiance was not psyched for our first trip in 2003 but i basiclly booked the trip on a thursday and we left on the next tuesday so he didnt have much time to worry about it. What hooked him first was Space Mountain but he loves Buzz in 2 trips we have ridden it about 15 times (he always beats me :furious: ) and he LOVES the TTA we have ridden that wayyyy more then 15 times He loves to just ride it loop after loop i dont get it but its a nice break and the Philharmagic rocks it was his first 3D show and was blown away by how good it is. By the afternoon he was totally into everything and i even got him on Dumbo. The other highlight of his trip besides tomorrowland is disney quest not sure how old your BF is but my FI loves playing all the old games he grew up with so it might be worth a trip over there

He loves Disney now and once i sugested disney for our honeymoon in Sept there were no other options for him.

PS I just saw you are from NB My mom is from Saint John and I rarely run into anyone else from NB

Yes!! There is plenty to do without the rougher rides. Let's see...Pirates, Buzz, TTA, Monorail (not in MK, but fun, too) Haunted Mansion, Can he do Dumbo or Alladin's Carpets?, Jungle Cruise, Small World, or Mickey's Philar Magic...all fun and I am sure he will be hooked by the end of Day 1!!

If he's only your boyfriend, then there's still time to find the perfect (in love with Disney) man right?? I'm only kidding. I actually have the same problem. My DFi has no interest in WDW. I suckered him into a trip last year "for the kids". The ride he continues to talk about is Pirates so that would be my suggestion. One little thing though, don't overplan things, or if you do, don't tell DBF. I made that mistake last year and I think that added to the problem for DFi.

I would go to the Buzz, Peter Pan, Haunted Mansion, and finish with POC. After that, I would see what type of vibe he was putting out and go from there.

Hope it works out for you both. I turned my BF into a fan, it's great!

I agree w/ FanofGoofy. Buzz, Peter Pan, Haunted Mansion & POTC. :thumbsup2

I could've written this, only I'm too late and already married my guy. ;) We are possibly planning for our first trip together next year. DH is great, he makes an effort to get into it, but I can tell he could care less.

I agree with the suggestions already posted. POTC, Buzz, HM and my personal favorites Peter Pan and Philharmagic. I also thought of trying to have a couple of "Disney movie nights" with my DH, so that there's a little bit of connection with some of the rides (like Peter Pan, and other Fantasayland rides).

I hope your BF coverts, and send some :wizard: my way, too!
