I know there are people out here that are involved with Boy Scouts. I NEED YOUR HELP, PLEASE!

This Tues. is my son's cake auction with Boy Scouts.

Does any one have an idea that we could use?

I thought since the Buckeyes won the Nat'l Championship we could make a football field. Then, I thought everyone else would be using it.

Any ideas would be appreciated! Thanks...
Lisa

Some of our top bidding cakes were Spiderman, volcanoes and a really cute replica of the pinewood derby!

What I've done in past was a great divide cake. In my case U of m and MSU.

You could do Uof m and OSU.

Really just have fun making the cake and decorating it. I've seen lighthouses, basic cake in box.

one that i've seen and thought was really neat was a cake where they did each branch of scouting in a section with something to symbolize that branch such as the tiger section was orange with black stripes. the bobcat section had a bobcat.

Here are just a few cake ideas:

Ohio:
-Perrys Monument Lake Erie
-Cleveland Football Stadium
-The Statehouse

Disney:
Cindy's Castle
The Haunted Mansion
Tom Sawyer's Island
The Tree of Life
Disney Cruise Ship

Misc:
Igloo
Ski Lodge with skiers
A War Ship
Declaration of Independence
Liberty Bell
Train
Civil war cake
Firemans hat
Policemans hat
Board Games-Checkers, Game of Life, Monopoly etc.
Swimming Pool
Ice Hockey
Computer

Good Luck!!

Our cake bake was this past Tuesday.

Gum ball machine with real gum
HUGE American flag
Scout theme with Tiger face/Wolf face
Treasure chest in the sea
Scout hat
Peace sign with American flag
Pinewood Derby car
Tires made with Oreos

We made a Tiger paw!

DH's biggest complaint was that there was no way the kids made these cakes. The winning scout cake was made by the mom, she told dh her son helped ice for a minute! grrr....

Thanks for all the input. I know what you mean about the cakes being made by the moms or dads.
I want it to be simple so my son can make it on his own.

Of couse, I am gonna supervise, especially around the oven. But, it is HIS job to make and decorate the cake.

Thanks for all the help!

Now...off to decide what to do!

Lisa, can he make a HUGE block O??? That might be easy enough for him to do himself. You can also get a buckeye and put it in the corner with the leaves if you like. It might not be all that original, but I am sure many would love it from this area :)

Thanks Elaine,
Yea, I think he would be able to handle that one!

But, I must tell you...he is a traitor.
They have a OSU/UM day at school, I gave him a quarter to get a face painting (I thought OSU) and he came home with a blue M on his face!

What a brat!

He changed his tune a bit on that Frid. night we won!

Go Bucks!

We're in the Boy Scouts now, so we haven't done the cake bit for a few years. Ours was always a Dad and Lad cake bake, so mom's were told they couldn't even be in the kitchen (and that included clean up!) We were allowed to help come up with ideas in advance. Most of the cakes always looked like the kids had done them.

By the way, our pack/troop is huge. We also were always asked to bring along some cupcakes. Kids brought pennies and we had a penny auction for the cupcakes that was just for the youngsters. They loved it! It didn't bring in loads of money, but it helped cut down on the sad faces when there weren't enough cakes to go around.

My sister made a really cute clown cake a few years ago that was really easy. She made two round cakes. One she decorated as the face of the clown. She cut a triangular shape out of the second one for a hat for the clown. There were two semi-circle pieces left, and those were the clowns hands. She then made about a half dozen cupcakes, and put them above the clown's head to look like he was juggling. The cake was a huge kick with the kids.
