I can't believe I am going to admit this but my DS did this last year right after he turned 4 years old but he didn't get stuck. Thankfully the opening was big enough for him to completely turn around in.
We were at a hockey rink and there is a very small arcade room (maybe 5 small games) adjacent to the concession stand. I was talking to a couple of people and the kids were in the arcade as they always are. We practically lived in the rink (4 days a week at that rink last year), so everyone knows everyone or at least recognizes which kids belonged to which Mom or Dad.
Anyway a mother comes up to me and asks "you have the boy with the red hair right?". She then proceeded to tell me he was in the ball machine and handing out balls to all the kids in the arcade. He was with his 7 year old sister and about 4 other kids ranging in age between 7-10.
I was 6 feet away but didn't see him crawl in! He thought he was so cool. He had given away about 5 balls. He'd crawl in and then crawl out with a ball. We collected them all and I made him bring them to the office and apologize for taking them. He cried and cried.
This year new rink that we call home and I caught him peering in the space at the bottom of a similar ball machine. He didn't go in, he told me he knows he shouldn't. He was just looking! Thank goodness because he might be big enough to actually get stuck now!
All the kids that saw him thought it was very funny. I am sure a few others tried it in the future due to the fun my son seemed to be having in there! He was one popular 4 year old for a few minutes.
Secretly I thought it was kind of funny myself once I realized he could get out but of course I put on my Mommy is upset look.
