Boy Character Meal

I KNOW I saw mention of a new character meal for boys starting up near the Pirates of the Caribbean ride right before I left for my trip this past March. What happened - is it still going, cancelled, never started?

I haven't heard anything about it since they opened a new character meal with JoJo and the Little Eintsteins. I was sooo looking forward to a boy character meal for my son. I feel like he is owed one since he has been to so many princess meals :confused3

This one was supposed to be with Buzz and they toy soldiers and Peter Pan... anyone else know what I am talking about? No idea who the little Einsteins are I am afraid!

The Toy Story Character Meal was supposed to be at the Studios (not near POTC) but for a variety of logistical resaons it is dead now. That is not to say that it will never happen in the future, but there are no plans to move ahead with it as of today.

I think a Toy Story meal would be nice but in all honestly I'd rather see a meal with some of the hero face characters like Peter Pan and Aladdin at them. Part of what makes the Princess meals so special for the little girls is that the characters can interact with and speak with the kids. I would even be glad to see a meal that would incorporate something like having Aladdin and Jasmine, Peter Pan and Wendy, or maybe one princess and prince. Something that would appeal to both the boys and the girls.

I agree! There should be a more boyish character meal.

I agree too. My ds LOVE Buzz & Woody!!!! Instead he is getting Winnie the Pooh & A Cinderella for dd. :confused3

My DS wants a character meal w/the Power Rangers - wouldn't that be something. Why doesn't Disney do something for boys?

I totally agree! When my son met them, he froze. He loved the green ninja storm power ranger. We met him first. We have the best picture of his mouth open practically touching the ground. I wish they did something like Power Ranger or Pirate meal. Let's all mention it to the different CM when we go. Who knows? :confused3 Maybe before my kids get too old, they will have something.

Especially since Frozone and Mr. Incredible are already in the parks, how hard would it be to toss them in with a meal?? :rotfl2:

And as a single Mom, I would be all for Peter Pan - I mean who doesn't like a guy in tights??

We did the princess meal at Epcot this year, and met some of the princesses in the park - by the end of the trip, even my neice (2.5y) was asking where Aladdin, Prince Eric and the rest of the princes were.

I felt bad for my nephew cause all he met were the princesses, winnie the pooh, etc. Although he did enjoy getting kisses from them :rotfl:

Toy Stroy has been one of the most successful movies for Disney, from a financial and merchandising perspective. I, too, was SO BUMMED when they scrapped the idea for the Toy Stroy Breakfast!

I agree with many of the others here--Mr. Incredible and Frozone would be awesome! And the Power Rangers have been popular for ages, so I'm sure that would be a success!

We have one boy and 2 girls--son is a Buzz kid, one dd is all about pooh, and the other dd is for princesses. So, we like to do 3 character meals--one for each. Obviously, it was easy to do the ones for the girls. For DS we have done Chef Mickey's (which was great with characters, ok for food, but really packed). And we have done Donald's Breakfastasaurus which is on our "never again!" list. Awful food--to the point of gross (never had that experience before at WDW), even worse service. The place was all but empty when we were there, had to wait almost 20 minutes even though all the tables were empty--and the characters still only spent 2 minutes with us, again even when no one else was around.

So...the search continues for th perfect character meal for DS...

While a boy character meal would be cool, Disney is running three or four pirate cruises nowadays - more boys than girls on both our pirate cruises (one was more evenly balances - only a few more boys). My kids (boy and girl) both enjoyed the Sci Fi, but its a MUCH more boyish venue. Boys like fishing out at POR (so do some girls, but some boys don't mind the Princess meals). And I can make a convincing argument that once you are out of the "tot set" most WDW attractions are more "boy" than "girl" - Dinosaur, Mission:Space, PoTC. And while there are more Princess meals than you can shake a stick at nowadays, if you go for the traditional character meals, you get two female characters - Minnie and Lilo.

(I've noticed bigger boys - ok, my husband - really enjoy Princess meals with Jasmine and the belly dancer at Morrocco).

I've noticed that my hubby likes to go visit Ariel in her grotto as well... :rolleyes1

I think WDW should add a boys' character meal as well - but please, not the Power Rangers! I can't wait for them to be out of WDW! Wish Disney never bought them...

As I plan for our trip I find myself feeling like I'm cheating my boys. My DD8 is getting BBB and a princess character meal. Does anyone know what there is special for the boys. Whether he will admit it or not my DS12 LOVES power rangers and the Incredibles (even though he says he turns it on for DS3). I want to be able to do special things with my boys too. :confused3

With another family, we attended the Princess Breakfast in EPCOT with three girls and my son. While the dads in the bunch were plenty impressed with these princesses, they were even more enthralled with Pocahontas at AK!

For my DS, we went to Donald's Breakfastasourus and had a great meal. Actually enjoyed the food here more than the Princess Breakfast. It was a very rainy day and on the way to the breakfast we spotted Pooh and friends and spent some time with them with just my family there. Since it was raining we spent plenty of time having a leisurely breakfast and did not feel rushed at all....had a great time with the characters. We would book this again.

Mine too! After we got home after our last trip, I was uploading pictures off the digital camera. We had gone to CRT and there were pics of my sons with the princesses and then there was one of Jasmine...just Jasmine. :rotfl2:

I called DH over to the PC and asked him what that was all about. He said he was wondering when I was going to see that (he took it when I went to the bathroom). He said if I can wear a POTC t-shirt with Johnny Depp on it, then he could take a covert picture of Jasmine :rotfl:

What was Disney thinking? I've never been impressed with these characters and what they're all about.

Does anyone know if the Doodlebops performing at MGM are the originals?

Yea, I'm a mouseketeer finally after 2 years!

Not necessarily for that age. He may enjoy bass fishing - its expensive, but if he is a fisherman, it might be worthwhile. As I said, the Sci Fi is a very "boy" venue and I'd plan a meal there. The pirate cruise is cool, but my son had outgrown it by seven.

My own recommendation would be you let him and Dad hang out for "guy time" - let him pick the park with the rides he really wants to do (or a water park) and free him from his sister and little brother - or (dare I say it) have the two of them spend a day at Universal, where the rides are about as 12 year old boy as it gets.

My daughter (who was six) got a character breakfast with Princesses and Mommy - highlight of her trip. Her brother had NO INTEREST, so he and Dad went off and rode Mission:Space (she was too short) and had a Dad and son breakfast at Fountainview.
