Me too.Sorry, Canada, Britain, and others. When I was a kid I thought Boxing Day honored various heavyweight boxing champions, like Joe Louis or Cassius Clay.
Sort of like a catch-all Presidents Day, but for pugilists.

Yep. I used to think of Boxing Day as the day people punched each other out as they shopped to grab the half price merchandise. Lol.Boxing Day used to be like your Black Friday. Everyone up early and many long lines. Now the sales start before and go a week after when it used to be the one day.
Don’t think many will be out today though. I know I won’t be.
I look back at the days of lining up in the cold at 5am outside Future Shop to get a deal on electronics and wonder... what the heck were we thinking?Boxing Day used to be like your Black Friday. Nope - not about boxing or shopping.Sorry, Canada, Britain, and others. When I was a kid I thought Boxing Day honored various heavyweight boxing champions, like Joe Louis or Cassius Clay.

"...ye who now will bless the poor shall yourselves find blessing. "Happy Anniversary!Today is our seven year anniversary, so you can associate that with it now instead of boxers

Oh the Furture shop ! Yes.I look back at the days of lining up in the cold at 5am outside Future Shop to get a deal on electronics and wonder... what the heck were we thinking?
Our pre-COVID tradition of late was to go to Yorkdale Mall in Toronto (because of the free underground parking) around 8am, get some deals, walk around and be out of there by around 10:30. I still did online shopping, mind you - but I do more of it now.
Stores never took returns on Boxing Day or sometimes even the whole week because it was too busy and wanted to sell more.DH didn't want to do 2 returns this morning because Boxing Day use to be crazy. I told DH it's been dead on Boxing Day for at least 5 years now because Christmas decor is always sold out way before Christmas. There's hardly any clearance deals and other deals to be had.

Ha! Pretty sure that's exactly the attitude back in King Wensceslas' day, which is what made him such a saint.I kid, I kid. Just a line from one of those over-the-top crazy movies I like.
