So we are going to be selling out house (its just my mother and I) I'm going to be moving out of state and shes moving in with her boyfriend (thats so odd to say when talking about one's mother) they two of them are going to be purchasing into a 55+ condo community in florida and then doing half year in mass half year of florida... but anyways.. I started going thru boxes and things this week (I'm a teacher and on school break) and came across a giant box of baseball cards that my brother no longer wants.. I dont know anything about baseball cards but I do know that these are old I dont want to dump them just in case one of them (or more) are actualy worth something...I also dont want to get scammed by some card store (do they even exist anymore) clerk telling me they are worth diddly but in actuallity are worth enough to offset the cost of a vacation :thumbsup2

Does anyone have any ideas?

I also plan to hold the mother of all yard sales in May and then every weekend there after till its time to leave... (the plan is to move in june when the school year ends)

Thanks!!! SO SO Much!

Jill

Pick up a Baseball Beckett. It's about $4, you can buy them at card shops, sometimes magazine places (book stores) might sell them. It's pretty easy to look up the current value of cards with that. Or maybe you can check online. It's been awhile since we were into cards, but that is how we always checked, but who knows maybe now you can look online.

Thanks.. I googled... and yes it does look like you can check online so I will give that a shot now

If they are prior to the mid 80's, they are probably worth something... if they are mid to late 80's, they make nice sounds when you put them in bike spokes..

you can also search on EBAY to see what some are going for.

I have many old cards including many from 1950's and 1960's. When I tried to sell them several years ago, the actual price a dealer would pay was unbelievably low. I think baseball cards are not worth much at all for cash. Perhaps better to give to a baseball fan in the family. The goodwill may be worth more than the cash!

My husband is a collector and has been for many many years and could help you out if you would like. He says it depends on who the players are on the cards. If you'd like to pm me, he'd be more than glad to give you info, etc.
