We are heading down the last week in August and I was taking a look at the Boutique in the World of Disney for my 5 year old daughter. She loves princesses and loves dressing up like a princess, so I thought this would be perfect for her. It does seem a little pricey, though. (what in Disney isn't?). But $60 for hair and nails for a 5 year old may be too over the top. My question is has anyone out there done this? Is it worth it? I saw there is a deluxe package that includes a princess costume. Anyone do this one? Any info / opinion you could give me would be greatly appreciated.

My 3 girls have done it twice - once at WOD for DD9 birthday and most recently at the MK one for DD11 birthday. I'm glad we did it when the prices were lower (for 3 girls, it adds up quick!) They really did enjoy it. The Fairy Godmothers do such a wonderful job at making each girl feel like a princess. We just did the basic package (actually didn't even get the nails because had heard they fall off easily). But they looked so great and felt so special and so many people remarked about how nice they looked. So, I would definitely recommend it if you can afford it!

We are planning to do it-my 11 yr old daughter & 7 yr old son. We have reservations at BBB in MK. But I also read a post about the barbershop in MK that also does girls hair and they liked it better than BBB. I believe it was much less expensive-but a different atmosphere-no fairy godmothers-crowns-nails-costumes-etc. If you want to do this BBB you really should make reservations-no appt. for the barbershop-first come first serve:goodvibes

I have not done it yet and had planned on skipping it due to the prices as you mentioned. My plans were set afoul by my 6 yr old DD who saw this on the vacation planning dvd. I haven't told her we are definitely doing it because 1) its $185, 2) I'm not convinced its totally necessary although we are going to the MVMCP that same night, 3) because I waited so long to make the reservation I had to go to the boutique at DTD which means a trip to DTD then a trip back to MK and 4) its $185!

:confused3

But, princess: is our only child, so she might get her wish.

Thanks for the responses. Please keep them coming. One of you mentioned fake nails coming off. Do they give them fake nails or do they simply paint their nails? I thought they would just paint their nails.

You can request them to just paint the nails instead of the fake ones.

I think you are given a choice. My daughter had her nails painted.

You might want to try one of the BBB (Bibbity Bobbity Botique) threads on the DIS they have lots of info :)

Just did my almost 4 yr. old granddaughter in July. We worried about whether or not it would be worth it too. Oh it was worth every penny! She was treated truly like Cinderella herself. We booked the crown package (I think) before we left, but changed our minds when we got there and did the whole package. And the rest of the day she was treated like a princess all over Disney. It is something I would like to do! My DD's said they were never treated like that even getting prepared for their weddings. It is so relaxed and wonderful. We are grateful we could do it. And glad we did!

It's went up from $35 in Summer 2006 to $50 now for the basic package. If you ever plan to do it you better do it now. :lmao:

We've been 4 times and LOVE it! This 5th time will be our last, the price is getting a little bit out of control! Every little girl should do it at least once!

Let me say there is no comparision between the Main Street Barbershop & the BBB! At the barbershop they put glitter in your hair - that is it. At the BBB - you can get the top of the line which, in my opinion, is not worth it or you can get one of the cheaper packages - we had the one with the hair, nails & make-up for $50 - it was well worth it! For the $50 - we got the Fairy Godmoth in Training & the whole atmosphere that goes with the salon - we got (I am putting the prices of the items in parantheses of how much each item cost in the store if you bought it all separately) a Mickey head barrette ($10), a crown ($10), make-up palette ($8), sash ($8), face jewels ($8), two bottles of nail polish ($3.50 each). The items would cost over $40 if you bought them in the store. You also get a Photopass photographer taking pictures of the entire event & then you get to go over to a Photopass studio & get a private photo session that is added to your photopass card - you can also take your own photos there. It really is a great experience, if your dd enjoys beauty salons & princesses.
I felt it was well worth the money - my girls loved the experience & all day they were in the parks (we did the PP&P at night also) and everyone complimented them on how beautiful they looked - CM would address them as Princess.

I can't comment on the nails - we were not ofered the fake nails - I thought they were only offered with the big package - I am not sure they were offered with the lesser packages.

Good luck!

We are going for our first time in November, our DDs are turning 5. They saw the BBB in the Planning DVD and on the Disney Splurge on the travel channel. They both wanted to do it. We will be packing their halloween outfits instead of buying them there - but we are planning to do the hair/make up and nails. Madison has already decided the hair style she wants after watching Disney Splurge. My thoughts are - they are only 5 once. The money will come & go - but this is a memory they will treasure. After the BBB we are heading to CRT for lunch, with a birthday cake. Afterall, you only turn 5 once. :)

Good luck deciding.

Is there a difference between the two locations? Is one better than the other?

We did the middle package, with the nails. One dd had hers painted and one dd had the fake nails. Dd with fake nails took them off about 1/2 hour later because it was too hard to eat with them on. Dd who got them painted got two bottles of polish out of the deal.

We brought our own princess dresses (that I made). They were cooler and weren't scratchy at all. The girls loved it!

If you have a choice of where to do it, I would choose the MK location - it is in the castle. The one in DTD is inside a store.

My daughter did the BBB at MK on her 7th birthday. We did the castle package with hair, makeup and nails. We brought our own dress that I had purchased on ebay. I thought this was a wonderful experience and something she won't soon forget. Our FGIT was so sweet!!!

I will say that my DD picked to have the press on nails instead of getting them painted but said if she had to do it over she would have painted them instead. She had me take them off about 2 hours later.

I took my 5 year daughter to BBB in DTD last year. She had the full package. It was fantastic!

After the photoshoot people kept stopping her to say what a beautiful princess she was. Even a CM bus driver got out his autograph book and asked for the princesses autograph.:goodvibes

Yes it cost a lot but the whole experience altogether made it worth everything we spent.

We chose not to do the deluxe package, many girls bring their own costume, and they feel just as much a princess as the ones who paid $$$.

I'm also wondering if one location is better than the other. We have reservations for our 5 year old in the DDD location, but I'm having second thoughts. However, I have also heard the MK one is more crowded and hectic.....:confused3
