And a few more prayers needed. This group sure is facing the ISSUES!!

My DS's marriage is a mess and his wife of 10 years and his handcap son are moving out on Friday for a supposed "trial seperation" which is mighty well planned as far as I can tell:rolleyes:. Not sure if I am more glad we are not going to be here or more upset to be away when he may need me. Mostly I am just very very sad about the whole mess and still praying things work out somehow. He and his son have spent 8 years with each other every single day and night. This is going to be very, very hard for him.

I have not read through all of the posts so far, so if this is mentioned before I apologize. I called to inquire about movies on board and here is the list (I may leave one or two as it is a long list):

Up in 3D
Old Dogs
Toy Story 1 and 2 in 3D
Alice in Wonderland in 3D
The Last Song
When in Rome
The Proposal
Oceans will premiere on 4/22
The Proncess and Frog
G Force

I think I got them all :)

Bought a new video camera today. Now all we have to do is learn how to use it. We have to record all our Dis events.

We have reservations at Palo's on April 17 at 6:30 Anyone else going to be there then?

Curious as to where you are getting your cost estimate? I have looked a couple places and there is/was a thread going out on the general cruise board and I was thinking $30ish(Euros however you designate that) for transport for 2 of us and our luggage?

Just curious if I need to budget more now that I decided not :headache:to get DCL transfers at $60American dollars (nearly the same as 40-50 Euros! :scared1:)

Oh gosh. I don't even remember where I read that. Maybe on Disney's website. That was month's ago. I figure I am going to budget for that amount and if it is less then that then Woo-hoo. More money to put toward the locker rental at the airport since we are leaving most of our stuff in Barcelona while we jont up to Germany. Less likely to have lost luggage that way.

.
How about layers instead of heavy coats? A sweater, a sweatshirt big enough to go on top and a windbreaker-kind of jacket give you several warmness options and probably don't take up as much space :confused3
Jan
.

I had thought about that. I will figure it out. A friend has a fleece liner that she is willing to lend me as well and I can put that under my windbreaker. I will try to pack everything else and see what room I have left.

same here, I just thought maybe you had some more current info than me or that I missed :rotfl: Good plan though, plan for more, pay less!

Kim, I'm really sorry! Keeping you and your family in my thoughts and prayers.

This group has certainly had its share of hardships and heartaches lately. Here's hoping the cruise will ease everyone's minds and hearts.

Lauren, the ballot is amazing! Thanks so much. I printed mine already :thumbsup2

grlzmom booked one for a dozen of us, scheduled to be waiting for us when we get off (not trying to haggle with a taxi while wanting to be on the way to the airport).

Rumors are that taxis are on the small side in Barcelona (as are most cars in Europe), so a larger family with luggage might need more than one.

I do remember that the lines for the larger minivan type taxis were about an hour wait they were so in demand due to most people's luggage, not necessarily people. There were alot of sedan taxis and we were able to leave right away, but most had to wait and wait---unless they wanted to hire 2 that is.

For those of you who have not experienced it before, you are going to LOVE going to Castaway Cay at the beginning of your vacation. You can spend every second on the island and not have to worry about getting back to the cabin, cleaned up and PACKED that night! :woohoo:

I think my plan will be to go straight to the hot tub at the quiet cove pool and also have a Baileys Banana Colado to top off the evening! Anyone care to join me? :upsidedow

.

I LOVED visiting CC first thing in the trip. You are making me SOOO excited, and its almost here---I needed that nice reminder before the coming storm of the next few days. Nothing like starting the trip off in paradise! :goodvibes

Way back there was some talk on scouting - are any of the scouts or leaders bringing badges to trade. I do have some Canadian ones that go back 30 years I could bring.

Now back to packing

Mike

Let me think about that for 2 nanoseconds...yup, twisted my arm...I'll join you! :lmao:

Never pass up a hot tub. DW will go for the colada, I never know what I'm going to order.

Ugh, too late to go dig out patches - but will gladly talk Scouting. Just checking here after closing the suitcase, car leaves at 5 AM, plane to MCO at 8. Why does this always happen?:sad1:

Hope the new netbook works, have to help make sure Thread 5 is reached.

:sad1: I am so sorry! It is deeply sad when any family breaks up. I'll be sure to pray for yours.

99.9% packed for the cruise. :goodvibes We are mostly packed for the two day conference before the cruise in Orlando.

Taxes (2009 federal, state (for the last time) and 1st quarter estimated 2010) are in the envelopes, stamped and going in the mail tomorrow! :snooty:

I know that I said I was waiting but I just want them gone. :headache:

The last photo shows the need for either a tripod or much longer arms! :lmao:

Things I didn't know before my 1st, 2nd, 3rd cruises:

To DCL Newbies:

On embarkation day, DCL will give you information on where you can make dining changes. This includes reservations for Palo - they may slots for brunch, tea, or dinner that you were unable to book online. Usually its in Rockin' Bar D or Wavebands - if you can't find the info or the location, ask any of the CMs (Cast Members - crew). Also, throughout the cruise you can talk with dining room head mangers if you have problems or go up to Palo and make an additional reservation. The one meal (of each type) rule applies to online bookings. If they've got space, they'll take your money. :thumbsup2

If you don't like the dining rotation they give you, you can check and see if something else is available. This will show up on your KTTW (Key to the World card - your credit-card shaped room key) looking like: APLAPLAPLAPLA or some other configuration of the letters A P and L - Animator's Palate, Parrot Cay and Lumiere's. What does it matter? For some, they like to have one of the formal nights in Lumiere's, with its more formal decor. No mind you, all three venues will serve the same Med cruise - specific special meals on the same night. There are menus unique to each dining room that will see listed as "Rotation" nights. On those nights, which will be cruise casual dining, what you eat in Parrot Cay will be different than Animator's Palate or Lumiere's. There is no wrong way to have dining. But any of the formal nights in Lumiere's looks nicer. (They may know this and have each of the 5 or 6 sets of diners placed there for the various formal nights throughout the cruise).

We spent DH's birthday at WDW last year. They gave him a button that said something like MY NAME IS TOM AND TODAY IS MY BIRTHDAY. ...

They had one waiting at our resort check-in last month for my SIL's first visit and birthday. 52 years old and she wore them proudly. And a somewhat stoic New Englander at that.

Anybody else received one of these (or picked one up at Guest Services) onboard?

...What movies are showing? Here's the current listing (which could change before we head out to sea):

The Proposal
G-Force
The Surrogate
Old Dogs
The Princess & the Frog
When in Rome
Up in 3D
Toy Story 1 & 2 in 3D
Christmas Carol in 3D
Alice in Wonderland in 3D

and apparently it did change (one movie):

I think I got them all :)

Well, that talk about "It's April, why are they still showing a Christmas movie" must have made it's way through the psychic channels. Now they've got the new Miley Cyrus movie, "The Last Song" to show us. Sort of limits them when they only have Buena Vista and Disney/PIXAR choices (I'm not complaining - just stating the obvious :goodvibes).

I did create a Part 5 for this thread, ready to go at the moment's notice if or when we hit page 250. Krisann made her contributation of posts already, so it's chock full of all that pre-cruise planning info you will need on Friday or Saturday morning.
