I won't know your answer, but where in New York State? Small town vs city can make a difference.

And what type of stores?

I can clear up a couple of things....
Room service can ONLY be delivered to a room. Of course, there's nothing to stop you from taking the tray elsewhere. My teen tried to have stuff delivered elsewhere--no deal. So, she and her friends waited in the hall by the room. The server made her open the door with her KTTW to prove that it was HER room, then gave her the tray. The kids promptly took it up to the pool area (this was late at night after the deck 9 outlets were closed.)

Rainforest room is part of the spa. It is a large room with 3 smaller steam rooms; each has a different scent and level of steam. Passes are $16 per day. Multi day and length of cruise passes are also available, as are "couples" passes. A couple can be any 2 people--mother/daughter, friends, etc. The longer passes are a little cheaper than daily. It is generally not a good deal to buy a length of cruise unless you know you'll use it every day; miss one and you've lost your discount. Each day allows you to come and go as many times as you wish during the day and stay as long as you wish.

Krisann--I PM'd you several times about your thing. I'd like to participate

If you reserve a private room, they can charge you. They tend to be somewhat flexible. If you just sort of "take over" an unused area, there is no charge.

Woody is correct--there is no microwave anywhere on the ship that is available for guest use. The kitchen will warm baby formula/food for you if needed.

Hanging out in Diversions/nightclubs you will not be hassled to buy anything, and you can bring a glass of whatever in. You will be asked once and a napkin will be placed on your table to indicate to all servers that you've been asked. You won't be bothered again unless you flag down a server. Hanging and playing games in Diversions is at least part of what it is there for--no worries.

Good point!

We'd be going to Watertown. Clothing and/or department stores. I know there is a Kohl's, k-Mart and Fashion Bug at least.

I will have to dig back in last thread to remember what games I have packed - mine are all Disney themed games with the exception of Mexican Dominoes.
We'll just imagine that the dots on the Mexican Dominoes are a tribute to 101 Dalmations.

Looking forward to playing on Game Days.

Woody

I am sure someone here has some experience.

I need to plan my sons homework and get things organized with his teachers. He is in a laptop program at schools and all of his teachers get assignments turned in on the computer. He can wait until we get back home and turn in his work but it might make the teachers happier if he can turn in assignments each day.

With that said...
:confused3
Is the internet connection on the ship fast enough to send school assignments, small attachments?

Will the internet access be available across the Atlantic and in Spain?

I'd definately need a major refresher course in canasta to play.....not sure if I remember anything more than the name since it's been so long :rotfl:

Melissa, I haven't played canasta since I was a kid. One summer I taught the whole block to play. I sure could use a refresher course. Karen

Maybe if we all get together we will each remember different things. What we can't remember, we can just make up new rules! :rotfl2:

Lynn - You can make mine LIME GREEN! :)

Somehow that just doesn't seem to work as well:rotfl2:

Whoa! Now I'm confused. I just checked my reservation which was for a Cat.12 GTY originally and up-graded to a Cat.11. Now they are offering me a Cat.8 for $70 per person per day or $1960. I didn't want to cancel that but went to modify reservation right above cancel and I was offered a DELUXE STATEROOM WITH VERANDA for $50 per day per person or $1400. How can a veranda be less than a window Cat8? I know a lot of you out there swear by verandas but I'm not sure especially on the TA, Alaska maybe but TA? I don't think I'd be out there too often.

All that aside, what do you think is going on with the prices?:confused3:confused3:confused3

Question for our U.S. DISers. We thought we'd take a quick U.S. shopping trip before the cruise but the only weekend we have available is Easter (good thing Im a last minute packer :rotfl:). Is Good Friday a holiday in New York State? Would stores be open Sat and/or Sun?
Thanks!
Eleasa

Yes stores are open on Good Friday and on Saturday as well. Some stores are closed on Easter Sunday.

If you're going to do a lot of shopping I would recommend hitting an outlet.
http://www.premiumoutlets.com - look and see if they have one near where you'll be in NY.

Never heard of phase 10. Looks like Uno, but quick google search says it involves more skill. Might have to get a copy to play with my parents before the cruise.

I have played Canasta a few times. We generally play "Hand and Foot" which is very similar to Canasta, but involves less skill (more luck). Usually easier to play hand and foot when you've indulged in a few beverages.

We also like dominoes, but we probably won't be packing our double twelves...too heavy. Need that room for my formal wear

Melissa

Anyone is welcome to come by and borrow my Double Twelves for this cruise. I purchased travel dominoes and they are so cute (and useable). Mine are already packed and ready to sail - along with lots of other games!

I will go out to the spread sheets and see if you are on the list - I tried to get everyone on the list that had sent me a message before the spreadsheets were put up. Since then I have been letting people do it themselves and not been looking too closely but I will double check that you are on the list :)

Perhaps this is what Terry and Krisann had in mind:

Yes was meaning our names - I like the dark blue with white writing - but just a little DIS green on mine would be great!

I just wanted to introuce myself. My name is Natalie. I am 26 years old, single, and a native New Yorker. I am a teacher who has a Masters degree and I am looking for people to hang out with. My main interests are theater, writing, reading, and teaching. I would love to find someone to go to the shows with, walk a mile around the ship, take aerobics class, and lay out by the pool. I look forward to meeting everyone!! Thanks!
