Tony and I love playing card games. All four of our boys are big board game players. Now that they are all grown up and out of the house per se, we don't get the chance to play so much. It will be fabulous having time to play with you all on the cruise. Phase 10 is a favorite. I love yahtzee too. We have King's Corner and Dutch Blitz that we can bring.

There's a board game called King's Corner? I know a card game (based on solitaire) that's called that. Or...maybe it's Kings in the Corner...???

.
I'm laughing at all the packing woes and people are still talking about putting board games in their suitcases. :lmao:Maybe someone should organize that so no one has to schlep more than one board game! (I'll have a deck of cards.)

.

We went to AAA and picked up our cruise docs today!!! Yay!!!

I noticed on the boards people mentioning about the mickey bars and was wondering if they had the strawberry fruit mickey bars on board like they do at the theme parks?

Thanks.

I haven't heard that they have those, but I do know they are very very similar (and might just be) Edy's Fruit Bars that you can get at the grocery store

I would appriciate yours prayers, good thoughts, positive energy (etc.) for my Grandmother.

I'm sending prayers for a peaceful passing for your Grandma. Big hug for you Lauren

We got upgraded!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I guess my emails got some results. DCL just called and actually apologized to me about our reservations. To make a very long story short we are now in 6140 for both cruises.

I am so glad for you! I remember how upset you were that you didn't get an upgrade...this is great news!!

 How about limegreen for the name?

I like these Lynn! :thumbsup2

Lynn - You can make mine LIME GREEN! :)

For those of you having celebrations while on board....don't forget to let DCL know so that a cake can be brought out (& fuss can be made ;)) one night at dinner. Call DCL & tell them what night you want the celebration for (you can also set this up w/ your server once on board).

Are the celebrations noted on the spreadsheet? I want to go and look at those that we want showered w/ cards :goodvibes

That is next on my list - to make cards up for all the celebrations!

:offtopic: Please hang with my while I take us off topic for a moment.

I would appriciate yours prayers, good thoughts, positive energy (etc.) for my Grandmother.

We got some very bad news yesterday that my Grandmother has reached the stage where her leukemia is no longer treatable. She is qucikly coming to the end of her life and will likely only have a few weeks to live. She is headed home today to be cared for in place by family and hospice care. Your good wishes for her comfort and peace would be greatly appriciated.

Thanks for this moment. Now let's get back to the good stuff.

Prayers for you and your family

Krisann & family will be playing games in the Promenade Lounge; Game Time with S. Long will be in Diversions at 1:00 most days - if you want some game time and need other players, these could be the places for you to hang out. Another beauty of DIS - finding playmates (and it doesn't have to be just organized activities).

- Lynne

I am not doing a separate game time - we are all together in Diversions at 1 pm - I have my games packed and ready :)

What I am doing in Promenade Lounge will be my Christmas Organizing presentation one night. But Diversions is where my family hangs out all the time playing games - the tables in Promenade Lounge are too small for board games for me.

I will have to dig back in last thread to remember what games I have packed - mine are all Disney themed games with the exception of Mexican Dominoes.

Mine is a card game. Its got the word Kings in it; maybe its called kings crown or something. Smaller the better. Oh, luv Uno too.

I don't think I'm in charge of this, but, I'll just keep posting this every now and then:

Cat 5 Verandah (Deck 7) - KrisannB
Cat 6 Verandah (Deck 6) - Donaldcp98 - Deck 6
Cat 7 Navigator’s Verandah - MikeandNick - Deck 7

Cat 10 Deluxe Inside
Cat 11 Inside - stlkeeler & ilovedale3 - Deck 6
Cat 12 Inside
Cat any Sideways
Cat any Handicapped (I'd love to see one w/Verandah)

I deleted the list of upgrades from the website, and just realized it had info on who was willing to open their cabins for tours. And if we get enough volunteers, perhaps we can utilize 2 cabins per category to keep the traffic down. ?

Who's up for opening your cabin?

If you volunteered and don't see it here, remind me to put it on the list.

We're in a one bedroom Cat 3 suite that we can open up for the tour. My only request is that our room be toured earlier in the afternoon or in the morning, to accommodate afternoon naps for my kids.

Happy St Pat's day to everyone. And love and prayers to Mrs. Gumdrop.

Here's my newbie question - if we hang out in Diversions or Promanade Lounge, will there be subtle pressure to purchase their drinks? Would they be ok with our wandering in with soda already in hand? Krisann, have you officially asked for a spot for your classes? If so, then from whom did you request it? Thanks.

Mrs. Gumdrop,
Praying that your Grandmother's final days are filled with peace and comfort as she is surrounded by her loving family. Hugs.

we hung out in Diversions all the time and never felt pressured at anytime. Have I bought a coke in there - yes - have I brought cokes from deck 9 - yep more times than you know! We bring food in from Deck 9 too - now I have also heard of people ordering room service to be brought there - but I have never tried that :)

I have not officially asked for a spot - if someone knows how to do that let me know. My plan is to wait till we get on board and see how late they have stuff in the Promenade Lounge - it is still open but activities end there where as the other clubs come to life in the evening. I am planning on having invitations made up to deliver when I decide on a time to all the people who have signed up that they would be interested. My thing is going to be informal (but informative) and I am not sure if I request space will they make me pay?

Krisann

Never heard of phase 10. Looks like Uno, but quick google search says it involves more skill. Might have to get a copy to play with my parents before the cruise.

I have played Canasta a few times. We generally play "Hand and Foot" which is very similar to Canasta, but involves less skill (more luck). Usually easier to play hand and foot when you've indulged in a few beverages.

We also like dominoes, but we probably won't be packing our double twelves...too heavy. Need that room for my formal wear

I have never been pressured or felt pressured. They will ask you occassionally if you would like something but no pressure.

They also seem to leave a napkin to show that you have been asked and then no one bothers you unless you change your mind.:goodvibes

I know what you mean - that is why my request for a BUNCO space spelled out we needed real tables (like Diversions), not those low-down cocktail tables in PL.

Thank you for your offer. I wondered if people's afternoon naps would be right after lunch (that 1:00 game time) or later 2-4 pm range. What time do you anticipate naps (and we lose one hour each night while at sea)?

... Here's my newbie question - if we hang out in Diversions or Promanade Lounge, will there be subtle pressure to purchase their drinks? Would they be ok with our wandering in with soda already in hand? ...

No pressure, even at night in Rockin' Bar D for older people (over 18) entertainment (don't want to call it "adult," as it's not R rated). Although drinks are available (freely, not free - they walk around with them on Day 1, while you are lunching and during the Castaway Party), I've never felt they were pushed - just a kind offer to serve or had a huffy reaction from the servers.

I'll PM you with the address Steven sent me (it works) and my ressie # so she can know she's not dealing with another giant set of people.

Sounds like you've got your priorities in line. princess:

What is the "Rainforest Room"? Is it something you have to book onboard? Couldn't find anything on-line. Are there different packages i.e. 1/2 day, full day, week, entire trip?

Question for our U.S. DISers. We thought we'd take a quick U.S. shopping trip before the cruise but the only weekend we have available is Easter (good thing Im a last minute packer :rotfl:). Is Good Friday a holiday in New York State? Would stores be open Sat and/or Sun?

Okay, that was way more than "a couple" of questions.

Thanks!
Eleasa
