Bounceback vs. Annual Pass Discount

I was wondering if anyone can tell me if a Bounceback is usually a better deal than the annual pass room discount?

Are bouncebacks usually good for any resort and all at the same rate of discount?

I am looking at the Wilderness Lodge and I have noticed that usually the Lodge doesn't get a very good discount with the annual pass, so If I wait until December and book a bounceback for the Wilderness Lodge will it be the same discount as all the other deluxe resorts?

There's no way of knowing which is going to be the better deal until the discounts actually come out as sometimes the discounts are the same, while other times one is more or less than the other . If you book the BB and AP discounts come out later and are better, you can always cancel the BB and rebook with the AP discount. It may even be possible to just modify your existing reservation to reflect the AP discount if that comes out to be the better deal, but you would have to check on that at the time. With that said, since Disney releases discounts to fill rooms, not all resorts are offered under a promo and not all are offered at the same discount. The WL has sometimes been offered at a lesser discount than the other deluxe resorts.

AKL and WL are usually offered at a lesser discount than the other deluxe resorts on the Disney promotions, but anything is possible when it comes to Disney.

The bounceback is more consistent than the current AP discount, I can tell you that! The fall AP discount seems to vary (somewhat randomly) from 5% to 35% depending on the resort and roomtype. Some deluxe villas are 5% off, some are 15%, some 28% (??), and so on.

We have a bounceback weekend booked Oct. 26-28 at BWV for $563. The same room and dates is $606 with the AP rate. So the bounceback is $21.50 per day cheaper.

I think the bb is a little more consistent because it's put out much earlier and is offered for a longer period of time. So it's not tweeked when the occupancy changes. Either the room is available on the bb or sold out on the bb. The AP discounts are typically more last minute, so they can be adjusted based on the occupancy much closer to the arrival date - meaning if the resort is low occupancy, the discount will be larger, and if the resort is close to target occupancy, the discount will be less or non-existant.

I have an AP and my experience with bb's has been that the bb and the AP discounts have ended up being so close that it wasn't worth the trouble of making any changes. Sometimes they matched completely. If you see a bb at a rate you like, book it. You can always change it later.

My advice is if the dates work to ALWAYS book a bounceback offer if you can. You can always change it to annual pass discount if it is better or cancel your reservation if you find a better deal at a different hotel.

I agree with bedogged book as it might not be there for AP. I book my December 2012 trip last December 35% off room rack. When the AP rate came out my room selection was not there for the AP. Plus it was for the same % except not tickets. I just got a one day base ticket that I can use for renewing my AP. Better safe than sorry :)

We are using a BB for our late November trip...it gave us a better rate than the AP discount did.

The same thing happened for our trip last month (Sept 1st-8th). The bounceback deal I booked when I was there last Dec was better than the AP discount that came out in August, so I just kept the bounceback. For that matter the bounceback I used for my trip last May (booked the same time I booked the Sept trip last Dec) also beat the AP discount, but just a little bit. POFQ seems to be especially hard to get with the AP discount this year and the discount is also less than at the other moderates for some reason (with the bounceback the discount was the same for all four moderates).
