FYI, I keep the first post updated with the direct link and all the info on how to book:Is it on the app or website?
I was able to modify online one of the bounce backs we have the other week to change the resort and dates, but it's been hit or miss with the rest of them. Some I can no problem, others it says I have to call, others appear like I can do it online, but when I get to the point of switching I get an error saying I have to call. There doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason as to which ones actually can be modified online for us.Has anyone had luck modify online without having to call when making changes to both the resort and the date range? Every time I try to do it, I can get to the final screen, so I know that what I want is available with the discount, but then it tells me I have to call. I can't figure out my issue when everyone here keeps posting that they had no problem modifying themselves. Could it be because I'm picking something that needs a (much) larger deposit?
It's so annoying. I was looking at options very late last night and talked myself into an expensive suite which showed as eligible and 35% off. Discussed it with the husband, verified we could take the vacation time, fantasized about the view. Then I went to finalize it and was notified that I had to call. It was too late at night to call so I just booked it at rack since we'd already mentally pictured ourselves there and I didn't want someone else to snag it. Now I don't know what to do because the category is of course sold out with me holding it, but we're spending $$$$ that could have been 35% less.I was able to modify online one of the bounce backs we have the other week to change the resort and dates, but it's been hit or miss with the rest of them. I'm not sure you booking the room is what is causing the room not to be available. Normally standard booking and BB booking pull from different 'buckets' of rooms so it's not necessarily you holding the room that is showing it as not available. It's so annoying. I guess my lesson is that I need to decide exactly what I want when I'm bounceback eligible because trying to switch things around later always ends up messy.
I looked at rack rate online without discounts checked. There are only two of what I booked so not unusual for them to be unavailable.I'm not sure you booking the room is what is causing the room not to be available. Did you call Disney to see if it is available? I would do that if you have not as online does not always display what CMs can see on the phone. At least that has been my experience.
If you decide to call, phoning on a week day morning or afternoon may be best. I think there is more help available for complicated reservation needs then than on nights or weekends/holidays.I looked at rack rate online without discounts checked. Of course you're right that I should just call, but I'm sort of afraid of the phone cm making a mess of things. I don't want them to accidentally drop the reservation that I already have the bounceback on. I'm willing to give it up for the new, earlier trip we want, but I'm afraid of them messing it up and then I end up with neither. A lot of the phone cms are great, very knowledgeable and helpful, but last year I lost a bounceback on a Contemporary suite when I called to ask if I could add a day. I was unable to get the reservation back and lost my bounceback opportunity completely. I got a refund for the deposit but it was disappointing. Ultimately you're right, I need to call... or pay rack.
I know that's all anyone here can actually tell me. I just wondered if others have these same issues with modifying online themselves, because I constantly read the success stories here and I'm not one of them. I know a lot of us dislike calling and were excited when it was announced that bouncebooks could be booked (and theoretically modified) online.
Thanks for pointing that out. It makes sense. If you decide to call, phoning on a week day morning or afternoon may be best. I think there is more help available for complicated reservation needs then than on nights or weekends/holidays.

It's soon, and I'm playing around when I should leave well enough alone haha.I understand what you mean about only 2 rooms in the category. But I think what @scrappinginontario means is the same exact room wouldn’t show as available with both the BB rate & regular rack rate. They don’t list the actual same room in 2 different buckets. They would have 1 room listed as rack rate & the 2nd room as discounted. So if you booked the rack rate room, someone else might have booked the discounted room. Or there might be a glitch so it isn’t showing.
But if they did have only 1 room in that category available & strangely listed it in both buckets, you booking at rack rate just filled the category. So of course the discount went away, since there are no more rooms in that category available.
I don’t know when your trip is, you could wait & maybe the other room will become available & the discount might return. You could call & explain, see if guest services will honor the discount since you were unable to make the switch with your BB. If it’s really too expensive at rack rate, you could cancel & stalk the site to see if it goes back into the system as discounted.
Or just chalk it up to bad luck & keep the rack rate. Whatever you decide, I hope you have great trip.
but I'm fairly certain that all available inventory shows up when you have no discount selected, and you are more than welcome to pay rack rate for it. Think for example about a room available with an AP discount. They will still gladly let a non-AP guest reserve the room at rack rate. Disney doesn't tell the guest, sorry you can't have the room at full rate because we're waiting to see if an AP holder wants it for less
