Bounce Back--is it easier to add or remove if free dining is offered?

I am going in August and am hoping for a bounce back offer. Obviously, I don't know whether it will be room only or dining, assuming there is one. I want to take my neice with us when we go the next time, so she would be included in our bounce back reservation, assuming I get one. My SIL won't commit to anything until the last minute. I have planted the seed in her head, but from long experience, she won't commit in the time frames I need to make reservations. We are going as a family whether the neice comes or not. So, my question, assuming the bounce back is free dining, should i book my neice in my room and remove her if she can't come or book my room and add her when she commits. If it were room only, I don't have a problem, but I have never done the dining plan and was curious what others have done. I am going to get a room that will accomodate all of us, regardless. Thanks in advance.

When booking in advance, I always add the maximum to reservation (days, tickets, in your case guests) and then adjust (if necessary) before paid in full date (if possible).:goodvibes

Adding your niece or taking her off at a later date isn't a problem, but depending on when that's done will determine whether or not you are charged a change fee. If you think your SIL will have trouble committing by the time final payment is due (45 days prior to arrival), I would wait to add your niece. Otherwise, I would add her now if you will have plenty of time to take her off the reservation before final payment if she is not able to go. Disney usually waives the fee if the total cost increases, but charges the fee if the cost decreases:

Any changes made up to final payment date (45 days prior to arrival) - no change fee

Any changes made 44 days or less prior to arrival that increases the total cost of the package - no change fee

Any changes made 44 days or less from arrival that decreases the cost of a package - a $50 change fee

Along with the above change fee, Disney has implemented a $15 fee for any changes made 14 days or less from arrival regardless of what it does to total cost of the package.
