Boulder Ridge Villas or Boardwalk Villas?

I am considering both Boulder Ridge at WL or the Boardwalk Inn for a stay in the future. There will be 4 or us, two adults and kids aged 8 and 6.

The other option is just getting a room at French Quarter.

We'll be doing each of the parks for one day over a 7 night stay, so 2 resort/pool days. On one of the rest days we'll also hit up Disney Springs. So we won't be spending any more time at any one park or have park hopper.

I really like the theming of Wilderness Lodge / Boulder Ridge and seems to be a more quiet relaxing resort with plenty of food options right there. The boat to MK is nice, but just going one day to MK. Also considering taking a bus to Ft Wilderness and let the kids ride horses.

The Boardwalk also seems great but maybe seems less of a quiet spot? The walking/boats to two parks is awesome. Just concerned about a lack of activities for my kids that age.

Help me decide!

You will have a lot more food options at Boulder Ridge than at French Quarter. You also have two pools at BR. Fort Wilderness is a fun place to visit and has the best children's playground at WDW.

I think that BR would be a better place to stay for the two non-park days. But Boardwalk would be convenient because you can walk to two parks.

I’ve never stayed at WL/BR. I have two kids ages 8 and 9 and they loved the community center at BWV. We also spent some time at the pool during our rest day. Community hall has video games, air hockey, pinball games to play. If they are more outdoorsy, maybe WL would be better? We do love the location of boardwalk though.

Thanks for the feedback. We're from Michigan and camp alot in the summer, so while Wilderness Lodge looks beautiful, we may want a resort with different theming than what we're used to on vacations. Alot of reviews said it's a great place for adults, but good to hear the kids will have plenty to do. I think Boardwalk it is!

If park hoppers are absolutely out of the question, that would give WL an edge. Otherwise having the ability to stroll over to EPCOT/HS from Boardwalk is tough to beat IMHO - especially with kids. Not to mention that at their age they’d probably still be into the performers on the BW.
