Boulder Creek Studios... none available?!??

My wife and I had planned on going the first week of December 2018, however, to our surprise, ALL the studios for that week are gone!! We tried to book 2 days within our 11 month window. We have been members since 2001 and this has never happened. The only other option is now a 1 bedroom or push to the following week.

I'm curious if Copper Creek owners, other DVC properties, are having the same problem.

With all of the new owners staying during the more popular dates, studios are in short supply at WDW. If you use the DVC RAT you can see what is available and what's not. In addition to studios, lock-offs will also be in short supply if there isn't studios available. BRV owners are now booking back home to experience the new redesigned resort area.

Studios have always been a tougher get in popular times such as December, but as Bill suggested above, I suspect you're seeing the "new resort" phenomenon. Since the new build at WL, those owners who hadn't come home in awhile are likely wanting to see the new cabins and experience the new pool and Geyser Point. I foresee that being a "thing" for a couple of years. Honestly, 11 month reservations at popular resorts during popular times are getting tighter overall. With the advent of a near year-round schedule of events at the parks, it is becoming tougher to get what you want. It's ironic that over the years one of the major complaints about Disney was that they weren't building enough: amusements, DVC, restaurants, rides. Now that they have, people are wanting to come experience the new and finding reservations, at least DVC, a harder get. We are very thankful to have some flexibility with our plans, as well as the ability to plan most vacations a year out.

I think, also, there are people buying BRV resale specifically for those first two weeks of December, which are the highest demand weeks of DVC all year.

If you don't own BRV those weeks you won't get studios or lock offs those weeks, and, increasingly, if you wait past 11 months, you won't either. There are already holes in other resorts and room categories those weeks. Booking's been insane this week.

Well, I had been worried, but today at 11 months, I booked a studio for friends for 4 nights, December 5-9! I booked a 1 bedroom for ourselves, more points than the two bedroom lock off we really wanted, but if they cancel, we still have our reservation.

Also have VGF studio 12/1-12/5 so our early December stay is set. Whew!!!

I hope your wait list comes through. A few days ago, the first VWL studio was always blocked.

We are exactly the same. We were hoping to go Dec 1st for a week at our home resort Copper Creek. We completely forgot to book it until 2 days after the 11 month point and by then all the studios were gone. We have ended up postponing the trip to start mid-week instead of the weekend.

I think there are something like 13 declared CCV studios, and I think there are two guaranteed weeks for the first week of December. If declared equals what can be booked on points, which we have never quite determined, there may be CCV owners who didn't buy guaranteed who cannot book either.

ETA: Just checked. 3 dedicated studios were declared, and 10 lock-off 2BR units. So that would be a MAX of 13 studios if you believe declared isn't just what units you can sell points against, but represent maximum bookable units of a type.

I did book at 11 months, I was actually able to get a studio with a stand up shower, no tub. But opted for the split stay in a 1 bedroom instead. The stand up shower studios were available for a while, but I like to soak in a tub after a long day of walking the parks.
