I bought a new DVC AP voucher before they changed the AP's. When I go on Sunday to turn in my voucher for the AP what AP will I be getting? Gold?

It should be Platinum since it was purchased prior to the change in October,

If you have a voucher for a Annual Pass (AP), you will be issued a Platinum Pass.
If you have a voucher for a Premium Annual Pass (PAP), you will be issued a Platinum Plus Pass.

This is a fun fact I wish I'd known sooner. Need to buy a pass in January, but would have done prior to the price change if this nugger were known.

This is not actually true. If you bought a voucher under the old pricing system, you will get exactly what you paid for when you activate it. It won't be a "platinum pass" or a "platinum plus" pass as those passes include the photo pass photos. The annual passes under the old pricing system did not include the photo pass benefits, so you would not receive those.

You will be issued an annual pass that is good for one year of park entry with no black out dates.

This is not true. It has been reported by CM's that work in ticketing here. They have been instructed to issue Platinum passes to those with non-activated annual passes. I suppose this is subject to change, but that is what is happening now.

I stand corrected then. I made my statement on an old understanding of how it worked then. I am glad that they are giving the new benefit to pass holders!

I purchased a annual pass prior to the new prices. I called and was told by a CM that we will be issued a platinum pass when the voucher is activated this week

We just picked up our new ap last night. I renewed in August before the increase. We were given the platinum pass with photo pass. I was a little nervous because the plastic card is gold. I told the cm we didn't want the gold and he said all the tickets use the same card. I checked our profile and it says platinum pass.. The cm was very clear that this pass had no blackout dates. So all was good.

Me, too.

My guess is that Disney found it easier and less expensive to map the "old" vouchers to the new passes than it would be to track the old passes until they expire. There are almost certainly lots of unredeemed vouchers out there. I recall reading past reports of some buying several to hedge against price increases.

I agree about the old vouchers. We have a child's voucher back when they made children's aps. It's from 2012. I plan to exchange it in 2017. Two weeks before my granddaughter turns 10. We bought it then they had the DVC premium special so I stored 2 of them away. I used one this pass may 2015. I paid $299 for it

The only reason they had different cards for the old passes was parking.

Wow! So when I activate by voucher in 1 week, I will get photo pass? I know nothing about photo pass and this is offf topic but any suggested resources to take a crash course on photo pass?

PhotoPass is the name of Disney's picture taking service. With the new Annual Passes issued since 10/4, Passholders can download their PhotoPass pictures for free until they expire. For passholders with those new passes, the picture expiration date is one year from the date the picture was taken.

DH and I just returned and had an absolute BLAST utilizing every Disney photographer we saw. We have nearly no photos together from all of our trips to WDW. They do wonderful things now with frames you can add and stickers and all kinds of neat stuff and then you can download them onto your computer or onto a flash drive and have them printed at Sam's, Costo or snapfish. Photos taken on rides are also included...including a very funny video on 7 dwarfs mine train. Also tower of terror has a video taken. Lots of fun.....and you can "see" your pictures nearly right away when you log in to your my disney experience. You just have to remember to touch your magic band to the "thing" under your picture when you get off a ride....except 7 dwarfs....somehow it "knows" it's you and it just appears on your photo pass account. Creepy. During the summer they also have photographers at the water parks.

And yes, I had to renew my AP's in August to get my FP's for Oct., as our AP's were going to expire mid-trip, and the price I paid was honored...not black out dates and memory maker included.

We were one of those familes that hedge against price increased.. Best advice we have ever received from Dis! We had to skip our annual trip to afford it.. But We saved 171.47 per pass so far. And if prices continue to go up every year the more we save until we are forced to buy passes again..

Bonus was Now that they have added photo pass that saved us an extra $170 per trip..

Btw.. I have a feeling it it's only a matter of time for disney starts putting "must redeem by" on AP vouchers.
