I do not know what came over me but I bought some fresh bok choy today. I have no idea how to prepare it. I thought about a stir fry of some kind but Im totally lost.

How do you cook your bok choy?

I love Bok Choy! I just chop it and use it in stir fry. I start with chopped onion, bok choy, water chestnuts, carrots, garlic, and sometimes chicken. I then add stir fry sauce and szechuan sauce. Sometimes I toss in lo mein noodles and other times I serve it with rice.
I also like bok choy chopped in salad.

Hope this helps... :thumbsup2

Thanks for your recipe. I went to allrecipes.com and could not find much help. Does bok choy take long to cook?

Wash it and slice it. Stir fry it with some minced fresh ginger, a little white wine and a bit of soy sauce. Even my kids will eat it and ask for more. Don't overcook it. It doesn't take long to cook and you want it to be a bit crunchy.

Our family likes bok choy. We usually get the baby bok choy.
Wash it, cut it up into 2 inch slices for the leaves and 1 inch for the hard stems, and cook it with some minced garlic, oyster sauce, and black bean paste. You can also add in some garlic chili oil and sliced pork.

I would say that you will only need to stir fry it for 5 minutes altogether or until you see the leaves wilt.

You could also steam it if you like.

My mom always used to take a 1lb chuck steak, freeze it, then let it thaw slightly and cut it in very thin strips. She would stir fry it in a tablespoon of oil, 3 tbs of bead molassas, and a little soy sauce. Then she would add sliced bokchoy and some water and cook till the bokchoy was tender and the water was mostly cooked out. She served it over white rice and boy it was good.... I miss my mom's cooking! :)

I read a simple recipe where you add sliced bok choy to Campbells Won Ton soup (the regular Campbells condensed soup in the red/white can in the supermarket, the kind you add water to), and simmer 'till tender. I tried it, and thought it was really good! I didn't even know Campbells made Won Ton soup until this recipe made me look for it at the grocery soup section! :sunny:

Make sure you cut it on an angle. Sometimes it can be bitter if you cut it straight across.

I love baby bok choy! I usually use it as a side. I marinate it in teriyaki and grill it. Serve with teriyaki grilled chicken or steak.

I didnt buy baby bok choy, this is a nice size cluster. All of these recipes sound awesome! I might become a bok choy junkie if I cook it right. Bok Choy for dinner tonight. I'll let you know how it turned out.

Thanks again for the recipes and a special thanks goes out to the tag fairy... :woohoo:
