Bought my new digital today!!!

I posted a message a few weeks ago looking for tips and info to make my decision. I want to thank everyone for their input! I bought the Canon Powershot S2 1S. Now I just have to master it in the next two weeks...before we leave for the "World!".

I have decided that this canon will be my choice too. What is the best way to buy this camera? On the web or in a store? Any good, reputable web sites that anyone recommends?

I'm the type that prefers a conversation with a real person, so I might end up in a store. However, if there is a savings I will be clicking away with my mouse.

I've had mine for about 3 weeks now. My old camera (Olympus C720) had 8 optical zoom so I'm really enjoying the 12 I now have! We will be going to WDW in June so I hope to feel alot more comfortable with it by then!

Have fun. I got mine last week, and have been trying to learn something new each day. I really love the camera!

Be sure to check out the Photostitch function, along with the software included you can make awesome panaromic photos. There have been several posted on the board, and I just did my first one at Beach Club this weekend1

Enjoy!! I have had my S2 IS for a few months, really enjoy it. I bought from the Net. Resist loading up on a package, stick with just the camera.

I am about sold on the S2 IS myself. The 12x optical zoom and the ability to perform almost as well as a dedicated camcorder (thereby eliminating the need to carry a camcorder MOST of the time) are the key factors.

Did (any of) you investigate any competing models that might shine in these two areas?

I considered the high zoom IS Sony, but it did not have a swivel LCD screen, and uses memory stick memory vs the more popular/less expensive SD.
