Feeling so guilty. My coworkers talked me into going out for sandwiches to celebrate the holidays. I haven't bought anything to eat at work in 3 weeks. Grrrr.

But did you enjoy it? Sometimes, it is nice to treat yourself to something good. Maybe your "something" was lunch....:goodvibes

Well 3 weeks is pretty good! I am a brown bagger. I really don't like spending money for food while at work. It can become a horrible habit. I have worked with others that come in with a bagel and coffee from Dunkins every morning and have fast food/ subs/ chinese take out /etc for lunch every day! thats a lot of $$$!!

I just finished a Dave Ramsey book and think I am taking it too far. I've brought all my drinks, lunches and snacks this month to save money and this is my first frivolous purchase this month. I know it's ok, but can almost hear Dave telling me "You didn't NEED that".

Do you have any eating out budget?

Even when we were trying to get out of debt and save we allowed some eating out money budgeted in.

No lunches out for 3 weeks I think that is pretty darn good! Don't feel too guilty. I think its when people do it everyday is when it begins to add up to too much! I go out for lunch about once a week or less with my mom and sis. I always order water and get one of the cheapest things on the menu. It's usually $4. One day I did go get a $2 sub from subway and yesterday for taco tuesday at our local taco place 88 cent tacos, I ordered 2. Sometimes you can still get something "out" and not spend a fortune. Don't feel too guilty!

well hopefully you enjoyed the company of your co-workers and spending time with them

Don't worry about it! It is good to go out with your co-workers every now and then! If you don't, then you get labeled as "that" person in the office and that is no fun either!

I pack pretty much every day. On Monday we were supposed to go out for our holiday luncheon (bosses treat) so I didn't bring a lunch. Heck I even dressed up a bit and spent extra time on my hair. My one co-worker was out sick so he decided to postpone until early January. Stank to have to run out and buy a lunch but it was kind of nice to get out of the office even for a few minutes.

Brown bagger here too, though I can't "go out" to lunch, not allowed to leave. There was a time not long ago where everyone was ordering lunch for delivery every day. It cost them $10/day to eat. I don't have $100 left out of my 2 week paycheck, let alone $100 just to eat lunch.

It is tough eating PB&J while they are all eating Chinese or hoagies every day. Or like I did this week, cooked 2 pork shoulders for a party and have been eating pork since Sunday. Getting pretty tired of pork here, today's run to the local favorite for wings, hamburgers, and sandwiches was tough to watch.

I think that taking the Dave Ramsey "beans and rice, rice and beans" approach to the extreme is the reason why so many budgets fail. It's like going on a diet with the mindset that you will never eat cake again. Before long, all you can think about is cake.

Just tell yourself that this was your extravagant spending for the month and move on. There's no reason to beat yourself up over this.

I eat out once a week (usually McDonalds) on the day I go to deposit my check. I look forward to it! Then I bring left overs the rest of the week :)

Moderation is key in most aspects of life. Don't beat yourself up over buying a sandwich. :goodvibes

Its great to save money but people must enjoy life to!!! as long as the electricity wasnt going to get shutoff for your sandwich enjoy it!

At school, the secretary puts in a order for sandwiches every Friday. I am to cheap.. er.. frugal to spring for a sandwhich and every Friday sitting in the teacher's room and have sandwhich envy..

Every now and then is not a bad thing. You have to enjoy life too!
