Bought Groupons for Orlando area to use during trip?

I just had a crazy thought... I buy a Groupon or livingsocial deal about twice weekly to use in my hometown... has anyone ever bought one specifically for use on vacation?

For instance... I just bought one for a "dessert bar" for half off retail... something like that could really come in handy...


Just a thought although it just came to me so I haven't thought out all of the logistics...

I do this all the time for travel! You just have to be more careful about the expiration date and any limitations on the groupon (i.e., some may be limited to weekdays, etc.). Also, I'm more selective about the location of the restaurant, etc. I try to get something that's close to where I'm staying, figuring that we may be too tired or short of time to travel too far.

Yes, I've bought quite a few for Orlando. Two week's ago, we used Groupons to the Titanic Exhibit, a flight class, Old Towne (kids loved the go karts) and to CiCi's (not impressed at all but it could have been the location -- it was the one under a waterfall/mini golf in Kissimmee). Actually, if someone is going to Kissimmee before mid-June and wants a Groupon to Cici's, I'd be happy to pass it on.

I used a restaurant.com discount at Blue Zoo. So I am guessing groupon would work the same way. Great way to try things you normally would skip.

A month or 2 ago they had an Orlando Groupon for $3 Cicis pizza buffets. I bought them for when we go back this summer. I have my local Groupon plus the Orlando one emailed to me every day.

I bought a Groupon for $89 to use in Hilton Head.

It is for a 30-minute private photography session with a Hilton Head photographer on the beach with my family, and an 11x14 canvas print.

I'm sure she makes her money from the additional prints people purchase.

One company that I buy from even more than Groupon is HalfOffDepot.com . They have been adding cities rapidly. Not sure if they've made it to Orlando yet.

The couple of times that a restaurant has gone out of business before we used our certs, they gave us credit on our account or a refund (depending on how long it had been since our purchase). They don't have a lot of restrictions like restaurant.com. You just pay half the face value and sometimes a little less if they are having a sale.
