Lunn Poly have an offer on until Sunday, the card is free (no £25 fee) and if you buy $700 they give you $50 free. Making a rate of about 1.81 :earsgirl:

Hi,
Thomas Cook are currently offering $100 free per £1000 or $250 free on $2000.

This makes the rate $1.86 to the £ and $1.90 respectively
$1000 costs £591.72 and $2000 costs £1183.43 with the extra $'s added to your card within 5 days.

It's available in certain stores only and online.

Just having a little dream here because DH says no! Could you buy as much as £7000 worth, get the extra $ then go off and do something useful with it - say buy DVC??

sorry what is this Travellers Cheque Card please

Where did you get that deal. I have checked on Thomas cook online and cant find it.

Thanks

Lynn

Hi Lynn,
If you click on the link on my previous post it will take you to the offer. I have heard since there may a charge to set the card up although I can see no mention of this.

JNS the TC card is a debit type card you can load up with cash in this country and Amex convert it into $'s and you then use it in the USA as you would a debit/credit card. You can also withdraw cash from atm's . What makes it a good deal at the moment is the free $'s Amex are giving away.

Go to the travel money tab. Thank you for spotting this great offer. Just bought one online from Thomas Cook - doesn't say anything about the free $100 once you leave the offer page but I am sure they will add it!
Wendy
PS There was a fee of £15 added but still thought it was worth it for $100 free.

When you use it at an ATM to take out dollars do they take money off as a fee?

I know I am being a bit dim but I really cannot see a link. Can someone put me out of my misery please!!!

Hi Wendy,
Yes the atm fee is $2.50 per transaction.

Here's a link to t & C's the charges are on page 11 It's a pdf file so it does take a while to load.

Hi there

Only me again. I still cant find that offer. If anyone can PM me the link I will be eternally grateful. I am off in four weeks and have abour $2000 to get so the extra $250 will be fantastic.

Thanks in advance and apologies for my total ineptitude.

Hi Lynn,
If you click on the words "Thomas Cook" underlined below this should open another window that gives all the info. You then need to click "buy online" on that page.

That's so weird - when I quote this post, the link appears, but unless there is something seriously wrong with my eyes, I can't see it in the post itself!

I have gone through the 'normal' route to buy the Amex card online at Thomas Cook, but it's offering an exchange rate of 1.69 (not the best), plus a £15 fee. There is no mention of any offer for free $, nor indeed anything else. The only thing I can think is that the link posted takes you to a different place, but I don't think it works from the quote :confused3 .

The link to the travel money section of the Thomas Cook I took is
http://www.thomascook.com/currency/travelmoney.asp

I would be interested to know if this offer is still running too!
