Bought a steam mop (finally)

Just got the basic shark- I think I'm going to like it. Seems to do a nice job on the kitchen floor without leaving streaks like the other mop does. Next I'm going to try it on the hardwood floor. We have asthma and allergies here so I like cleaning with as few chemicals as possible.

I bought a shark last week and I LOVE it! I bought the one you can flip over and use both sides of the pad. It also has two mop heads, a rectangle and a triangle for tight areas. We have three dogs and I am not thrilled about using chemicals. The fact that it dries instantly is huge since I can clean the floor and not have to keep everyone out.

Can you use the Shark mop on linoleum floors? We have linoleum, hardwood & tile.

I was thinking about heading to BB&B today to get one of these. We have older vinyl flooring (about 10-12 years old) that has a pebble-like texture to it and it is in pretty bad shape. It doesn't clean well and always looks dirty. I want to replace it, but no $$ right now. I'm wondering if the steam mop will give me a few more years with it. I'm using Swiffer stuff right now, but it leaves a film and the floor always feels kind of sticky.

Does anyone know if these things are returnable if it doesn't work like the commercial says it does?!

This is my situation. I have been eying a Shark for a few months now, but I really don't know if it is worth it for me.

We have the double sided one, with the rectangle and triangle heads, $99 at Sam's Club - it's the best deal!

About laminate - that's what I have, and it works wonderfully!

* pebbled floor, dirty, my laminate has texture and is shaded, so it didn't LOOK dirty but it was - the steam mop got a good start on cleaning it, but we ended up spraying the entire floor with clorox clean up/simple green then scrubbing with a stiff brush, then wiping up with shop towels, rinsing with vinegar/water. It was a pain, but the floor looks great now!

I have laminate wood floors. Is that what you have? Has anyone else tried it on the wood floors?

Got my double sided Shark steam mop about a month ago, and use it on my wood laminate floors, no problem whatsoever.

I use mine on regular, non-laminate hardwood floors. Works good.

The Shark works on any hard surface floor (laminate, tile, hardwood, linoleum).

Not sure how it would do on the pebbled surface the poster above talked about. It will certainly push the hot steam all over the surface. Whether the dirt will release and come off is another matter. Sometimes floors like that just get permanently dingy looking.

I am finding that the more I use the shark the cleaner the floors become. I think it is taking time for all the gunk to be lifted off. The first time I cleaned the lino kitchen floor, it was pretty hard work, but every time I use it, it gets easier to push. I also have some adhesive stain on a tile floor and I am gradually removing those also.

Mine's the same! It not only looked dirty, it always was dirty. 3 kids and 2 dogs make for very nasty floors. Couldn't get the dirt up and always ended up all over socks. The swiffer would only remove a little of the caked in dirt. A few times i'd be on hands and knees scrubbing which helped but is a bit time consuming, especially because it would look the same within a few days. I broke down and bought a eureka enviro something steam mop last week. Used it once so far and it worked great. I went through 2 pads in my small kitchen because it was so nasty. It really worked well but needs to be done again. I think once I start using it regularly, the floors will look clean all the time.

Absolutley my steam mop! So much easier than messing w/ the old-fashioned mop and quicker, too! I use mine on linoleum and tile; soon hardwood. The only thing I wish it would do is make my grout look like new.

Me too! I have hardwoods in the kitchen so I'm hesitant to put water on them. But I bet they could tolerate the steam (they seem to tolerate just about everything else!)

I just used my Eureka for the first time today (got it last night), and the manual says it can be used on sealed wood floors.

i just bought one of these last week (just the cheapest one). it did a nice job in my kitchen. there were a few spots that i had to get down and scrub. but otherwise, it did a nice job. it sure beats a sticky or sopping wet floor.
