Bottoms of my feet hurt on long runs! Help!

I have "new" shoes- Asics Kayano 16s bought a month ago. They are the same ones I wore last year (same brand, not same shoe exactly!) without issue for the Princess training and run. Was fitted for them at my local running store, so I feel like they are the right shoes for me.

I feel great in them--- except after about 6 miles the balls of my feet start really hurting. Worse on the pavement than on the treadmill, but I also get the discomfort on the tread as well.

1) is this "normal"- do other runners have this issue? Is it just me?
2) is this because of fatigue and form slipping?
3) anything to fix it- ie, cushiony socks or something along those lines? I have runners socks and compression socks, so I am not wearing thin cotton or anything. But I can't say any of the pairs I own are particularly cushiony either.

Everything else feels good- back, knees, ankles, shins, etc... so I don't think it's shoes.

What say you, WISH members? Any suggestions?

I have that issue pretty much every time I break in new shoes. Takes me about 30- 40 miles to get them comfortable. Same brand, same model. Just the way it is. I am use to it so I know to break them in early with a lot of shorter miles.

My guess is even though they are new, the cushion is still not formed to my foot yet. Once it gets formed a bit to my foot then the problem goes away.

just my experience.
enjoy,
Duane

I think I agree absent any other data. The Keyano is a great shoe but for some folks, it is hard to break in. May also be that fact the shoes are a model old, also. The foam can harden with time. It will not harden enough to create a true long term issue, but just hard enough to prevent an out of the box long run.

Hang in there. Do not change anything else until you are sure the shoes are the not the issue

Thanks guys. I didn't think about the older model and the foam maybe getting hard over time. Makes sense. I'll keep pushing through and hopefully fully break them in soon!

For what it's worth I have the same issue. I really hope it is just my shoes. I wonder if I do have some other issue or if I just need more time and conditioning. Mine start getting uncomfortable after mile 12 and I think it used to be at lower mileage. Hopefully I will be able to push out my threshold.
