Bottom of the Barrel restaurants

don't forget planet hollywood. I think alot of use made the mistake of eating there:scared:

I loved Planet Hollywood.. the potato skins were great and the mini tostadoes,All of were happy with the steaks and my Key Lime pie was delish. Service was very good and atmosphere is wonderful. So we tried it inspite of many bad reviews and were very happy we did. Bottom linee is what sort of food atmosphere are you looking for if something sounds good to you give it a try.We found that most of the family did not like Family style, preferring off the menu or buffets, so that was a lesson learned and next time we'll stick to the ones we like. But can't say we had any bad meals and service at worst was fair

Again, like one poster said, you're going to get a variety of responses!

DH and I love the food at the Sci-Fi. Ate there once last summer and it was great and tried other things there on DDP this Spring and it was even better. We also really like the food at the Plaza. No, it's not themed or anything special in terms of ambiance, but the food has always been great and it's our fav pick after spending a hot few hours at the park to sit in there and cool off with a good meal.

For me, it would be Pizzafari in AK. I didn't try the pizza but got the hot Italian sandwich instead and I found it way too salty.

On the other hand, I liked Mama Melrose when I ate there in May.

I like this post....because we all have such different opinions...

We REALLY liked Planet Hollywood - we even paid out-of-pocket! Great service, delicious food, great atmosphere. We'll go again!

We REALLY liked Cap. Jacks! Great meal, great view, great service.

Garden Grill is a favorite for DH & DD! It's not my fave, but we go every trip for them.

Hated Fultons. Prices were high (which we were expecting) and the service was VERY rushed and catered to larger tables, food was not much better than red lobster. Will not return.

Sigh.....and my favorite snack? Goofy's Candy Co. in DTD! MUST have a glacier every trip! :goodvibes

Another vote for Hollywood and Vine. Two words...NEVER AGAIN!

We love Sci-Fi, however. It's worth the so-so food to get that atmoshere and theming once a year.

I think if everyone responds to this, all of the restaurants will be considered bottom of the barrel!
I agree!!

It is my opinion that certain things feel "recycled" at WDW: All the burgers taste identical (unless you use Pecos Bill's fixing bar), all the hot dogs are the same, all the waffles, eggs, bacon is the same. So, if I'm not a fan of Casey's hot dogs, chances are I won't like them at the Liberty Inn.
again - I agree...I find that if I like something at one place in the MK I will like the same thing in othes...my question is: is the same true for Disneyland???

I'll venture a step further and throw on my flame-resistant suit and say that the overall quality of the food has been slipping. There are some gems among the generic, but that, too, is an individual opinion.
Maybe the palate has changed - the food seems the same to me. But I have only been going to WDW steadly since 2001.

As others have mentioned, everyone will have a different opinion here and it's hard to make your own decision based on that. For example, without being there, I heard the podcast folks give the Yatch Club Galley a shining review, but then Ceshire gave it a horrible one.

That being said, it is the theme of the thread, so FOR ME, Tony's Town Square was a huge dissapointment. Food wise, Sci-Fi Dine-In was "okay" at best, but at least there, the theming was fun. I was also dissapointed with Tangierine Cafe in Morocco at Epcot.
Sorry to hear you were unhappy with Tangerine...I love the desserts there. I also love Marakesh (that is the name of the Moroccan main restaurant - but the spelling may be wrong!) We try to eat there once a vist during the Food & Wine event. I agree with Tony's - have been disappointed every time I have eaten there. Sci-Fi was fun, but again - the same hotdogs, hamburgers as the others... I love the movies though!

If I had to pick my least favorite it would most likely be any of the take away places for burgers...BORING!!!

My favorite: Californina Grill...but we make a point of getting to Raglan Road also!

In all the years I have been going to WDW, I have only had 2 bad meals, and they were both this past January.

I had always enjoyed Columbia Harbour House in the MK, but this past time, It was really bad.

And at Epcot, in the revised, Sunshine Seasons we got something Chinese, and I could barely even eat it at all.

On the other hand, Sci-Fi in MGM is an absolute must-do for me.

Pizza Planet had the most disgusting pizza I ever tasted (at least in the summer of 2004). Wasn't thrilled with Cosmic Ray's either.

Haven't come across a bad TS yet.

Well this is a totally uninformed opinion, since I've never actually been to one, but from the reviews I've read, the restaurants that they temporarily open up just to accommodate more diners (such as the noodle buffet at the Tomorrowland Terrace) seem to be somewhat poorly regarded.

Personally, I've enjoyed most of my meals at WDW--I find Planet Hollywood and Ragland Road really noisy, but the only one I wouldn't bother with in a hurry is the one on the steamboat in DD. The food was average, but the service was fairly dismissive and put me off.

I also have to agree with the others that found Sci Fi rather lacking. We have only been there once and were both unimpressed with the food. The atmosphere is fun, though. And now that I've heard several raves about drinks, shakes, and appetizers, I'm thinking that maybe I'm ready to give it another try.

Other than that, I don't think I've met a Disney restaurant I didn't like.

I think it depends upon how you define "bottom of the barrel." I've experienced DEPLORABLE service at DTD RFC twice. Twice was enough, won't go back again. Pirate & Parrot was terrible CS food. Terrible. We couldn't eat it, and hubby and I can pretty much down anything. We've had other "meh" meals, but nothing inedible. I thought food at Morocco TS was very well prepared, just wasn't to my taste. (I didn't care for cinnamon w/ the meat.) Hubby loved breakfast at O'hana's and I thought it was a bit of a greasy mess, but still edible.

hmm - I would have to disagree about the noodle place - I was disappointed to see it was gone. I love Thai and the noodles there were excellent. I usually eat Thai at a local place in NJ that the owner is still learning English -the noodles compared to his...oh well - they do close things without a lot of warning....I agree that Raglan Road can be noisy - but aren't most Irish Pubs??

For us it would have to be the Plaza at MK and Mamma Melrose at MGM.
The Plaza was a last resort for us because they were the only one with ADR's available the day we were there. It wasn't terrible but my cheesesteak was cold and DW's chicken breast was dry.
Mamma Melrose was also a last minute ADR and the only one available in our time frame. While the food was ok, I think we all expected more than something we could get at a typical chain restaurant.

Yakitori (which we call Yuckitori)

Hollywood and Vine

Trail's End

It just depends on your tastes, and the particular day you're visiting a restaurant! We LOVED the Plaza when we were there in May '06, it was great for a "sandwich" meal, yet table service!

We just went to the Trails End buffet for the first time this trip and didn't have ADR's. Our first visit was on 6/29/07 and we were seated within 5 minutes. The 2nd trip was on 7/2/07 (again no ADR's) and was seated immediately.
