My family of four would like to spend our summer vacation in Disneyland (who wouldn't ;) ) however, the ony summer month we can make it work is June. Please any opinions on what week would be the best? I know there are many charts and blockout days I could study but I need to put in my vacation request VERY SOON and do not have too much time to research. Any help would be greatly appriciated.

I'm trying to decide too, so I'm curious to see the replies! I was supposed to be there right now, but my mom was admitted to the hospital and I had to cancel. Now I'm trying to decide between the June 9-12 or 16-19.

Maybe we'll end up there at the same time!

I too was looking at June, from what I found, it seemed like later in June was better, longer park hours, more entertainment, etc., I can't find my notes right now but I'll get back to you, but I'm no expert at all, just want responses to my questions were. Good luck finding a good time!!

Keep checking back to Disneylands website for park hours, but the last few years the day after the last grad night in May which is around the 28-29th is when they start increasing park hours. My family takes our annual vacation to Disneyland at the end of May or Early June every year, and we always get longer park hours the first week of June. Best part about the first week or 2 of June is that schools are still in for some students, and a lot of families wont have flooded the park then to start their vacations. The later you go in June, the busier it will get.

I agree. Shoot for early June, longer hours, great weather, (not hot yet), and school is still in session. Colleges are out but that doesn't add to the crowds as much.

It's hard to say when the best time to go is. IF World of Color premieres 6/11 then probably the whole rest of June will be very, very busy. (But even if it premieres then, there's a great chance that there will be some preview days before then.) Conversely, if you want to see World of Color, waiting until 6/11 and later may be best.

Blockout dates would say to go June 16-18 or 23-25, but I think before 6/11 might be best this year.

Disney expects June 21-22 to be crazy-busy, and I think the last week of June will be crazy too.

I don't know. There are so many weird factors involved this year--normally earlier in June is better, but with World of Color I'm not sure there will be THAT much difference. Unfortunately we probably won't have any good ideas of how things will be until mid-May or later, and that's rather late to be planning a vacation. :(

So I think you may need to just pick a date, make sure you get to the parks before opening each day, and come up with plans of attack for whichever days you pick as your vacation draws closer.

Have a great trip!

You brought up a good point with the World of Color going on. That will definitely draw in some crowds. But also that the Rivers of America are going through a MAJOR referb right now, and by the time June hits, if all goes as planned, the show Fantasmic will have started playing again on May 28th. That too will bring in crowds as people wouldnt have seen it for MONTHS!!!

Plus WoC may have soft openings (or possibly even the full opening!) before June 11th. Whatever happens, I'm afraid it's looking like June = busy.

But at least we know what to expect with Fantasmic! crowds (parks probably nice in the early morning, starting to get busy mid-day, Disneyland super-crowded at night).

How many days are you wanting to spend? I agree with others to choose the blockout days (usually Thursday, Friday, Saturday and maybe Sunday). The Thursdays will be grad nights.

Ideally I would like to spend a week in anaheim, four of those days to include Disneyland and California Disney

Do the first week in June, before the WOC opens. I think WOC will bring in nightmarish crowds.

One option for the OP is to do this. Go before June 11. Park hours and entertainment will be reduced, but so will crowds. See "What You Should Know About Off-Season at DLR" www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=18462889

Second option is to go after June 11 and try to hit the AP blockout days. IMO the best four consecutive days would be

June 9-12 (June 10 is a grad night)
June 16-19 (June 16 and 17 are grad nights)
June 23-26 (June 24 is a grad night)

The June 16-19 with two grad nights is a poor option IMO. I would choose the first week if off-season days work for you. If not I would choose June 23-26 because it is not opening weekend for WOC and has only one grad night.
