Okay Moms,

How do you keep a bottle cool for hours in the parks? When we go out at home I use "blue ice", but I'm thinking the hotel fridge is not going to be cold enough to refreeze them. Do the Baby Care Centers have a fridge we can keep them in?

This will be our first vacation of any kind with the little guy, and I'm hitting a few snags! We'll call them learning experiences :thumbsup2

Have you considered bringing powdered formula and just making the bottles as needed?

This is what we did. Dd took them room temp so I just had a few bottles of water and made the bottles in the fly.

Sounds like a good plan. I had that thought originally, but with tap water. I rethought it when I remembered how nasty FL water is! I'll pack a couple of small water bottles instead. Thanks!

i am definitely in agreement with powdered formula.

you can even get those containers that have 4 separated compartments that hold the formula so you can pre-measure it out so you don't have to take the whole can of formula into the parks.

also bottled water sounds like a great idea.
instead of bringing the baby bottles and bottles of water i would pour the bottled water right into the baby bottles before heading to the parks.

then all you have to do is pour in the pre-mearused formula and shake.

Yes, simple and easy. I do recommend that you try your child on the powered formula and the brand of water you plan to use a few weeks before your trip. I had one child that would not drink the powdered form. I would also try the water brand you want to use to be sure that it does not cause any tummy issues. You might want to use the brand that WDW uses so you can buy water there. Having a case shipped might be worth it. You will need more that a couple small bottles. Another choice is the ready to feed bottles that you simply open, add nipple, feed and toss. Much more expensive, but another choice. We have done this one too and it is super easy.

We always freeze water bottles and use them to keep our bottles of formula cold, then you can drink them and save the cost of buying water. they should keep cold enough all day in a decent cooler.

I second the trying the brand you plan to use before trip. nothing worse than a hungry baby and baby deciding it is not the right bottle or taste

I remeber the Baby Care Center having a Water Cooler in the center, we filled and made a formula bottel for our daugter in the morning and also filled her sippy cup with just water and our ressort mug. Then toward the dinner time would make another stop, change her before dinner and make two bottles one for dinner and another for bedtime. This worked out for us we did have some bottle water in the hotel room that we used in the morning, but cut down on the amount we had to carry to the park- granted she was 13 months old so she could go longer between bottles and was eating solid food. Hope this helps.

I second using the divided formula containers. It made feeding in the parks or on the go at home so easy! I just pre-measured the powder in the morning, filled the bottles with the right amount of water and threw them all in the diaperbag. If you don't want to carry the extra weight in the bag, throw some water bottles in the stroller basket and you're good to go!

I am not a fan of powder formula and I know a lot of people use it, but its just not for me. When we went last year I bought the 16oz cans of the liquid formula. It was not cheap but all we had to do was open the can and poor it in the bottle. To me that was worth it, lol

I agree that the containers with pre-measured formula and some bottled water is the way to go!!

We used the liquid formula too. Only we buy the 8 oz. formula bottles. We open the bottle of formula and pour it into the baby's bottle, and we are ready to go. Then we throw out the bottle the formula was packaged in. Every easy and doesn't require water. It doesn't have to be kept cool, but storing it in the diaper bag underneath the stroller, the bottles stayed surprisingly cool. We use this at home too when we are out and about, but we do use the powdered formula at our house. Luckily our baby doesn't care. Whatever you do, make sure your baby is on board with it. Some babies won't switch back and forth between different types of formula.

Can you go breastfeeding or are would you consider it? It's a hell of a lot easier. ;) . Or is it around time to start with milk/solid foods? That way you can kinda mix/mash with the formula and regular foods and it might cut down on having to bring formula all day. My kiddo ate everything we did, only mashed up a bit. Potatoes and broccoli were big favorites, as was yogurt. They were easy enough to find at all the restaurants. My man still doesn't drink regular milk, he prefers yogurt for dairy.

Just measure.out.the.formula into one of those containers, bring an empty bottle, and a few bottles of water. Easy peasy.

If you bring an ice pack, you can leave it with bell services at your hotel to be put in the freezer. We do it all the time because my husband carries one for his insulin as he is a type 1 diabetic. :)
