Bottled water instead of dessert?

A friend told me recently that on her last trip, they were allowed to get a bottled water instead of a dessert for CS meals. There's a few times that I like to get the chocolate cake but most times, I'd rather just have a bottle of water to carry out with me for later. Anyone able to verify this?

We've had luck substituting at the resort food courts. I usually ask a CM what I can have in place of the dessert and have been offered chips, fresh fruit, yogurt, a bottle of water, etc.

However, at another place we only wanted the entree and dessert (no beverage) and the cashier would not ring it up as a CS credit unless we picked a beverage.

Just ask because substitutions vary with the place, the CM, the policy of the individual restaurant, the phase of the moon...

It's up to the CM. I've definitely read here that people have been able to do it, but the two times I asked I was not allowed.

We have been lucky in making substitutions. We always ask the cm nicely if we can substitute x for y and we have almost always had success. The only place where we were told no was China cs.

Same here. Never had a problem. I do know that Tangierine Cafe is sticky about subs of any description and last year at Pecos Bills we had no problem subbing wter for desssert twice and then one evening the CM who served us said no drinks to be subbed for dessert but we could have a side instead I was thirsty so just used a SC for the water and left the dessert.

The best strategy is to ask with an open mind and accept that if they say yes, they are being very accommodating. IF they say no, don't worry about it. Most will allow it though from my experience.
