BOTTLE REED DIFFUSERS- help me before I lose my mind please! LOL!

Am I missing something? Do they want you to be able to put the reeds in the bottle? I bought one of these things months ago and tried to get it open the bottle broke and the oil went EVERYWHERE, it was awful. Now I got a different one from a different brand and can not for the life of me get this thing open! Any tricks??? Also i'm opening it outside in case of a repeat of last time~!

I have no idea on how to open it, but I read on DisBoards that someone had these & placed the container on a nice wood surface. They dripped the oil on the wood and made a bad place. So, if you do ever get it open, be careful where you sit it.

I just got it! I did it outside on the sidewalk! I had to spray goo gone around the cap! Thanks for the warning marthachick, b/c I just put it on wood, moving it again right now!

I got a fairly inexpensive one from Kroger and had this problem--it had a little plastic stopper stuck in the bottle. It was super-tight and had no where to get a grip on it. I ended up taking it outside and using needle-nose pliers to get a grip on the stopper and then just slowly wiggled it out. I was really frustrated by the whole thing though.

I"m sure it's sealed tightly because the oils in the bottle are quite harsh.

I have some of those Wallflowers from Bath and Body Works and one of them tipped over and it ate through the finish on the shelf it was sitting on.

That's good! I know the other person had placed it on either a very expensive or heirloom piece and they were sick when it was ruined!
